(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)
Sets the communications parameters to be used for transferring data between the data recorders and the system.
The Comms Settings dialog box is selected via the Configure button in the Input/Data Recorder or the Output/Data Recorder commands.
Note that the dialog may be different depending on the currently selected data recorder device. Certain of the items documented below will be unavailable or not present in the dialog for certain devices which do not require or cannot set all the communication parameters.

Port: | Select which port on your computer is to be used when transferring data to or from the data recorder. Select FILE if data from a stored location that can be browsed to is to be used. |
Baud Rate: | Set the baud rate at which the data recorder operates. |
Data: | Set the number of data bits in the characters transmitted and received. |
Stop: | Set the number of stop bits used. |
Parity: | Set the parity scheme to be used. |
Flow Control Xon/Xoff | Set whether Xon/Xoff flow control is to be used for transmission and reception. |
Flow Control Hardware | Set whether hardware flow control is to be used for transmission and reception. |
Input Protocol: | Set the proprietary protocol to be used when transferring from the data recorder. |
Output Protocol: | Set the proprietary protocol to be used when transferring to the data recorder. |
EOL char: | Specify the value of the character used to specify the end of a line in the transfer process. |
EOF char: | Specify the value of the character used to specify the end of the data. |
Delay: | Set a time delay in milliseconds to be applied before sending each character. |
OK | Save any changes to the settings and close the dialog box. |
Default: | Restore the default settings for the particular data recorder. The default settings are the recommended communications settings for the particular data recorder. You should where ever possible use the default settings. |
Cancel | Close the dialog box without changing the settings. |
You may tailor the communications settings as desired. However, it is imperative that you match your selections to correspond to those on the actual data recorder.
The easiest method for setting all the communications parameters correctly is to select the Default button followed by the OK button and then ensure that the actual data recorder has the same settings as displayed in the dialog box. If you use the default settings, ensure that the communication settings on the actual data recorder/interface are as detailed in the appropriate topic below.

If you do not wish to use the default settings, use the various buttons, entry fields and check boxes to make your desired selections and then click the Save button. Please note however that the safest approach is to use the defaults. Click the Exit button to close the dialog box.
