(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)
The communications settings of the SETC Series II total station cannot be changed by the user. Prior to transferring data to or from this instrument, ensure that its default settings have been set using the Data Recorder Communications Settings dialog box.
Transferring data from the SETC Series II
Carry out the following on the SETC Series II.
- Turn on the total station, and rotate the instrument horizontal and vertical axes through a full circle.
- Press the "MENU" key.
- Press the "2" key to select the "Card" menu item.
- Use the arrow keys until the "comms" option is displayed.
- Press the "Yes" key. The display will show "Online..." indicating that the total station is ready and waiting to transmit data
Now, carry out the following in the system.
- Ensure that you have carried out the appropriate steps in the procedure for Processing a Field Survey up to the step for initiating the transfer of the data.
- You should then have a dialog box on the screen prompting you to "Select the file to be downloaded"
- The files available in the SETC Series II are displayed in the combo box below the above message. Select the required file and press the OK button to initiate the transfer.
Transferring co-ordinate data to the SETC Series II
Use the Output/Data Recorder command to put the system in a ready state to send co-ordinates to the SETC Series II. A dialog box should be displayed asking if the total station is ready to receive data.
Then, carry out the following on the SETC Series II.
- Turn on the total station, and rotate the instrument horizontal and vertical axes through a full circle.
- Press the "MENU" key.
- Press the "2" key to select the "Card" menu item.
- Use the arrow keys until the "comms" option is displayed.
- Press the "Yes" key. The display will show "Online..." indicating that the total station is ready and waiting to receive data
Now, carry out the following in the system.
- Select the OK button in the dialog box to commence the data transfer. The file created in the SETC Series II will have the same name as the data base from which the co-ordinates were transferred (maximum of 7 characters). If the file already exists on the card, you will be prompted as to whether it should be overwritten.
