Wild REC Module & GIF10

(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)

To view or change the communications settings on the GIF10, perform the following steps:

  1. Turn the power on, using the power switch on the back panel if the GIF10 is being powered from a wall outlet, or using the top panel ON/OFF push button if it is being powered from a battery.
  2. Using the up-arrow or down-arrow push button on the top panel, move the flashing black cursor until it is blinking on the word COMM, then press the RUN push button.
  3. The initial display will show the current baud rate setting in the GIF10. Press the up-arrow or down-arrow push button until the baud rate shown by the GIF10 matches that shown below.
  4. Press the right-arrow push button to change the next communications parameter setting, changing the displayed value as necessary using the up-arrow or down-arrow as above.
  5. When all the communications settings match those shown below, press the RUN push button to return the GIF10 to its main menu and write any changes made into the unit's memory. Failure to press RUN at the end of this procedure will cancel any changes made.

The default communications settings are designed to work effectively if the GIF 10 is set up as follows.

CONNECTED AS DTE

The cable connecting the serial port of the computer to the GIF10 must conform to one of the following:

Transferring data from the GIF10

Ensure that you have carried out the appropriate steps in the procedure for Processing a Field Survey up to the step for initiating the transfer of the data. Then, to initiate the transfer, carry out the following on the GIF10

  1. Ensure the SEND menu is selected. (Press Arrow Keys)
  2. Press RUN
  3. Using the arrow keys, select the file number and Start and End block numbers.
  4. Press RUN
