Control Description
Type Select the text style type to manage.
Insert a new text style Create a new text style.
Copy a text style Copy a text style.
Edit a selected text style Edit the selected text style.
Delete a selected text style Delete the selected text style.

The following text style types can be managed.

Type Description
Angle Angle text that is linked to objects or 3 vertices.
Area Area text that is linked to a polygon.
Attribute Attribute text that is linked to an objects attribute or a project attribute.
Bearing Bearing text that is linked to an object or two vertices.
Chainage Chainage text that is linked to an object or two vertices.
Combined A combination of attributes that are linked to attribute values.
Contour Contour label text for major or minor contours.
Coordinate East, north or height text that is linked to a vertex.
Distance Distance text that is linked to an object or two vertices.
Grade Grade text that is linked to a line or pipe or two vertices.
Layer Layer name text that is linked to the layer of the object.
Offset Offset distance text that is linked to a line and a vertex.
Static Text that is not linked to an object.
Notes
  • Use text styles when creating text objects.
  • Linked text objects get their value from the object or reference line they are linked to.
  • If you edit a text style all text objects that use the style are updated.
  • If you delete a text style (other than a static), all text objects that use the style are deleted.
  • If you delete a static text style, text using the style is retained but disconnected from the style.
  • Moving linked text will unlink the text from the Position properties of the text style. In the Attributes tool, click the Update Vertex checkbox to use the text style to position the text object.
  • Editing the rotation of a text object will unlink the Rotation property of the text style.In the Attributes tool, click the Update Rotation checkbox to use the text style to rotate the text object.
  • Editing the appearance of a text object will unlink the Display properties of the text style.In the Attributes tool, click the Update Appearance checkbox to use the text style to display the text object.
  • Editing a text style which is used by text on a locked layer may change the appearance of the text.
  • Editing an object that is linked to a text object on a locked layer may update the text value.
