Edit an Offset Text Style (General)

Description

Edit the general settings for an offset text style.

Access

Manage / Configuration / Text / Styles / Offset / Insert a new item or Edit selected item / General

Controls
Control Description
Name Type the name for the style.
Description Type the description for the style.
Unit Select the linear unit for the style.
Type Select the offset type to display:
Grid - Values are grid distances.
Ellipsoidal - Values are ellipsoidal distances.
Ground - Values are ground distances.
Local Plane - Values are local plane distances.
Format Specify the parameters to insert in the text object using the following notation:
  • Type ❴0❵ to insert the computed offset.(Required)
  • Type ❴1❵ to insert the linear units. (Optional)
  • Type ❴2❵ to insert + or - to indicate which side of the line the vertex is on.(Optional)
  • Type ❴3❵ to insert L or R to indicate which side of the line the vertex is on.(Optional)
  • Type ❴4❵ to insert N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W or NW to indicate the approximate direction of the vertex from the line.(Optional)
Note:
  • Text parameters are inserted in the order specified.
  • Units displayed in the text object are the units defined for the text style. These units can be different to the project units.
  • You can insert additional text to be displayed with the linked text objects.
  • For ❴2❵, a positive offset is displayed when the vertex is to the right of the line.
  • Multi-line text is supported.
Notes
  • Offset text styles are used to create linked text objects that display the offset distance between objects.
