Description |
Distance |
Type the distance along the object the text is to be placed as a ratio of the length. e.g. A value of 0.5 indicates half way along.
Note:
- The Distance value is applied from the start of the object except for segment based text styles, where the end that the Distance value is applied to depends on the bearing of the line. (See notes below).
- For Offset text, the Distance value is the perpendicular distance along the reference line between the line and the vertex as a ratio of the length. e.g. A value of 0.5 indicates half way between the line and the vertex.
|
Offset |
Type the perpendicular distance from the object that the texts vertex is to be placed as a ratio of the text size. |
Distance Offset |
Type an additional distance along the objects segment that the texts vertex is to be placed as a ratio of the text size. Use this to display text beyond the line segment, alignment segment, polygon segment or reference line.
Note:
- A positive Distance Offset value is applied in the direction of the line except for segment based text styles where the offset direction depends on the bearing of the line. (See notes below).
- For Offset text, a positive Distance Offset value moves the text in the direction of the line or alignment to the vertex.
|
Rotation |
Type the rotation angle of the text in relation to the direction of the object or reference line. |
|
Notes |
- For linear objects a positive Offset value indicates the text will be placed to the left of the object.
- For polygon objects a positive Offset value indicates the text will be placed outside the polygon while a negative value indicates inside.
- For polygons, the bearing text is created as if the polygon was created in a clockwise direction. (Bearing text created on polygons that were created in an anti-clockwise direction have the Reverse Direction and Reverse side checkboxes selected automatically.) Clear these checkboxes to display the bearing in the direction of the polygon segment.
-
The view convention for bearing, distance and grade text is from the south and east.
For segment based text styles:
- If the segment has a direction between 0° and 180° the Distance value is applied from the start of the segment and a positive Distance Offset value moves the text in the direction of the object.
- If the segment has a direction between 180° and 360° the Distance value is applied from the end of the segment and a positive Distance Offset value moves the text in the opposite direction of the object.
- When using a text rule, if multiple polygons are being annotated that share a common edge, a positive Offset value indicates the text will be placed above the common edge while a negative indicates below.
