Control Description
Name Type the name for the style.
Description Type the description for the style.
Unit Select the linear unit for the style.
Distance Type Select the distance type to display:
  • Grid - Distances are grid distances.
  • Ellipsoidal - Distances are ellipsoidal distances.
  • Ground - Distances are ground distances.
  • Local Plane - Distances are local plane distances.
  • 3D - Distances are slope distances.
Length Type Select the type of length the style represents:
  • Straight - Distance for straight lines.
  • Arc - Arc distance for circular arcs.
  • Chord - Chord distance for circular arcs.
  • Radius - Radius of circular arcs.
  • Transition Curve - Length of the transition curve.
Format Specify the parameters to insert in the text object using the following notation:
  • Type ❴0❵ to insert the computed distance. (Required)
  • Type ❴1❵ to insert the linear units. (Optional)
Note:
  • Text parameters are inserted in the order specified.
  • Units displayed in the text object are the units defined for the text style. These units can be different to the project units.
  • You can insert additional text to be displayed with the linked text objects.
  • Multi-line text is supported.
Display signed values Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to include the positive sign with the created text when appropriate.
  • Clear the checkbox to include negative signs only.
Segment based Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to create text for every segment of a line. The distance is the length of the line segment.
  • Clear the checkbox to create text once for the polyline. The distance is the length of the polyline.
Note:
  • Only segment based text can be created for polygons.
  • Non segment based text styles used to annotate a polyline, can be created for straight length types only.
Notes
  • Distance text styles are used to create linked text objects that display the lengths of the objects.
  • Once a Length Type has been selected for a text style it cannot be edited.
  • If a distance text style is used to annotate a line with straights and arcs, only the segments with the appropriate line type will be annotated.
  • Comparison text can be created with distance text styles that specify straight length types.
