Edit a Bearing Text Style (General)

Description

Edit the general settings for a bearing text style.

Manage / Configuration / Text / Styles / Bearing / Insert a new item or Edit selected item / General

Controls
Control Description
Name Type the styles name.
Description Type the description for the style.
Unit Select the angular unit for the style.
Type Select the direction type to display:
  • Grid - Display grid bearings.
  • Plane - Display plane bearings.
  • Local Plane - Display local plane bearings.
  • Azimuth - Display azimuths.
Direction Format Select the direction format:
  • Whole Circle - Create bearing text with whole circle bearings.
  • Quadrant (N Bearing E) - Create bearing text as angles from the North or South direction.
Segment Type Select the segment type that the bearing style is intended for.
Format Specify the parameters to insert in the text object using the following notation.
  • Type ❴0❵ to insert the computed bearing. (Required)
  • Type ❴1❵ to insert the angular units. (Optional)
  • Type ❴2❵ to insert the North/South direction. (Required when using Quadrant direction format)
  • Type ❴3❵ to insert the East/West direction. (Required when using Quadrant direction format)
Note:
  • Text parameters are inserted in the order specified.
  • °, ' and " are always displayed. A value will not be inserted for ❴1❵ if the units specified are Sexagecimal or Degrees Decimal Minutes.
  • Units displayed in the text object are the units defined for the text style. These units can be different to the project units.
  • You can insert additional text to be displayed with the linked text objects.
  • Multi-line text is supported.
  • When direction type is Quadrant ❴2❵ must be displayed before ❴3❵.
Display signed values Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to include the positive sign with the created text.
Notes
  • Use the bearing text style to create linked text objects that display the direction or difference in the direction of an objects segments or reference line.
  • The bearing text style is only applied to the Segment type it is intended for.
  • For polygons, the bearing text is created as if the polygon was created in a clockwise direction. (Bearing text created on polygons that were created in an anti-clockwise direction have the Reverse Direction and Reverse side checkboxes selected automatically.) Clear these checkboxes to display the bearing in the direction of the polygon segment.
