Create a text object linked to a project attribute, at the X and Y coordinates of the mouse pointer.

Controls

The following controls are available.

Control Description
Style Select the attribute text style.
Type Select the attribute type.
Attribute Select the name of the project attribute, whose value will be used for the text.
Height Method Select one of the following methods to input a height for the texts vertex:

When using informative mouse pointers:

Mouse Pointer Description
Pen Cursor Insertion Mode - Text will be inserted when you click in the model view.
Edit Cursor Edit Mode - An editable box will inherit its value from the vertex you click in the model view.
Notes
  • Use to create linked text from project attributes.
  • To insert the text, ensure you are in insertion mode and the model is displayed in Plan view, then click in the model view at the location where the vertex is to be placed.
  • To return to insertion mode:
    • Pick a vertex in the model view to fill the control with a value.
    • Press the Tab key or Shift+Tab key to remove focus from a control in edit mode.
  • The Attribute list contains all project attributes of the selected Type.
  • Group attributes display in the Attribute list as GroupName.AttributeName.
  • The value of a text object is dynamically updated if the project attribute it is linked to changes.
  • The appearance of the text is automatically updated if the text style is updated and the Update Appearance checkbox is selected.
  • Deleting a project attribute definition will delete associated attributes and text linked to the attribute.
Possible errors
Message Description Action
The attribute definitions being deleted are used in the following object types. Continuing will remove references from the above locations. Do you want to continue? The attribute definition you are deleting is used in project attribute text, block definitions, text styles or CAD text. Select Yes to continue to delete the attribute definition and all associated attributes and attribute text linked to the definition.
Select No, to retain the attribute definition.
