Creating a Set of Cross Sections

(The Profiles and Design module is required for this procedure.)

This procedure is used to create a set of Cross Sections.

  1. Ensure that the required data base is open. Refer to the procedures for creating or opening a data base.
  2. Ensure that you already have the required primary alignment, which the cross sections are to be created for.
    Refer to the procedure for Creating an Alignment.
  3. Ensure that the primary alignment has section markers at all the locations where cross sections are required.
    Use the Profiles/Attributes/Section Markers command to set the required attributes for the section markers to be created.
    Use the Profiles/Create/Section Markers commands to create the section markers.
    You can also use the following Profiles commands to delete or edit section markers.
    Edit/Delete/Section Markers
    Edit/Attribute/Section Markers
    Edit/View Edit/Section Markers
  4. Ensure that the primary alignment has a corridor of interest to define the extent of the cross sections left or right of the alignment.
    Use the Profiles/Create/Corridor of Interest commands to create the required corridor of interest.
    You can also use the following Profiles command to delete or edit the corridor of interest.
    Edit/Delete/Corridor of Interest
    Edit/View Edit/Corridor of Interest
  5. Use the Profiles/Profile/Cross Section command to generate the cross sections.

Ensure that you complete the fields and make the appropriate selections, including the Parameters options, to achieve the desired cross sections.
