Control Description
Create a new closure Create a new closure.
Save a closure Click to save the current closure using the Name.
Delete a closure Delete a saved closure.
Validate a closure Do one of the following:
  • Compute a misclosure for the current closure and view adjusted coordinates without updating the vertices with the adjusted values.
  • Click Menu arrow, then select Multiple to select the closures to adjust and the order that they should be adjusted.
Process Do one of the following:
  • Compute a misclosure for the current closures measurements and adjust the coordinates updating the vertices with the adjusted values.
  • Click Menu arrow, then select Multiple to select the closures to adjust and the order that they should be adjusted.
Closure options Configure the options for the measurement adjustment and the closure report.
Name Type a name for the closure.
(Start) Name Input the start point for the closure.
  • Type a point name or an existing points unique id (Pnt | id:Point Unique id) or vertices unique id (id:Vertices Unique id).
  • Pick a point from the model view.
  • Pick a line from the model view.
Note:
  • Picking a point or line from the model view will automatically fill other controls. If the line is a multisegment line, you can automatically fill all To rows for the closure.
(Start) Easting Input the easting to be used as the start of the closure.
Note:
  • This box if filled automatically if you pick the start point from the model.
(Start) Northing Input the start northing to be used as the start of the closure.
Note:
  • This box if filled automatically if you pick the start point from the model.
(Start) Layer Select the layer to move the start point to after adjustment.
Note:
  • This box if filled automatically with the points current layer, if you pick the start point from the model.
  • If this box is left blank the start point will be moved to the active layer.
(End) Name Input the end point for the closure.
(End) Easting Input the easting to be used as the end of the closure.
Note:
  • This box if filled automatically if you pick the end point from the model.
(End) Northing Input the start northing to be used as the end of the closure.
Note:
  • This box if filled automatically if you pick the end point from the model.

The following controls are used to insert and edit values in the grid control.

Grid Control Description
Create a new closure Insert a new row into the closure data grid above the selected row .
Set as radiation Click to switch the selected rows to radiations.
Note:
  • Radiations are computed after lot corners have been adjusted
  • The entire row display in blue if the measurements are set to be interpreted as radiations.
Switch from chord to arc Click to switch between the distance value being interpreted as a arc distance or a chord distance.
Note:
  • Distances display in green if they are set to be interpreted as arc distances.
  • The distance must have a corresponding radius to be interpreted as an arc distance.
  • Arc distances are converted to chord distances when the closure is adjusted.
Delete a closure Delete the selected row(s) or cell.

The columns selected in the closure options determines the controls available in the data grid.

Grid Control Description
To Select the cell then input the name or id of the vertex the measurement is measured to.
  • Type a point name or an existing points unique id (Pnt | id:Point Unique id) or a vertices unique id (id:Vertices Unique id).
  • Pick a point from the model view.
  • Pick a line from the model view.
Note:
  • Picking a point or line from the model view will automatically fill other controls. If the line is a multisegment line, you can automatically fill all To rows for the closure.
  • If you pick a point the bearing and distance is computed from the previous To point (except when the previous measurement is radiation measurement).
Bearing Type the bearing from the previous closure point to the To point.
Note:
  • This cell is automatically filled when the To column is filled by picking a point or line from the model view.
Distance Type the reduced horizontal distance from the previous point to the To point.
Note:
  • This cell is automatically filled when the To column is filled by picking a point or line from the model view.
Radius Type the radius of a circular arc.
Note:
  • This cell is automatically filled when the To column is filled by picking a 2D circular arc from the model view.
Clockwise Select the checkbox to apply the circular arc in a clockwise direction.
Note:
  • This setting does not have any effect on straight line segments.
Point Layer Select the layer for the adjusted point.
Note:
  • If this is left blank, adjusted points are placed on the active layer.
Line Layer Select the layer for the line created from the measurement. Note:
  • If a multi-segment line is created only set the layer for the first row only.
  • If this is left blank, created lines are placed on the active layer.
Notes
  • When inserting values into the grid control, click the 'To' cell then:
    • Select a point to insert the point and the bearing and distance from the previous point to the selected point.
    • Select a line to insert the 'To' vertex/point and the bearing and distance of the line.
    • Select a multi segment line to insert multiple rows into the grid control with the 'To' vertex/point and the bearing and distance of each segment in the line.
  • When picking a line from the model view, the location of your cursor determines the direction of the line. Click the line close to the start of the line to enter the bearing from the start to the end.
  • Radiations must be inserted directly below the lot corner that they radiate from and switched to radiation measurements.
  • Set the adjustment method in the Closure Settings.
  • You can copy the value of a single cell to another cell.
  • If any point does not exist in the project, a new point is created when the closure is computed.
  • When the closure is processed, existing points are moved to the adjusted coordinates and the coordinate class is set to adjusted. The points are moved to the specified Point Layer.
  • Configure if lines and polygons are to be created in the Closure Settings.
  • Lines are created for all rows including radiations and placed on the Line Layer.
  • Lines and polygons are only created if there is not already a line or polygon on that layer with the same geometry and vertices.
  • When creating lines for a 'None' adjustment type, lines are created using existing points in preference to computed vertices. Ensure the point name for the last measurement is different to the end point to see the misclosure.
  • Vertices of fixed points cannot be adjusted.
  • When processing multiple closures, vertices adjusted from a previous closure can not be adjusted. They can be used as a start or end point.
  • Straights and two dimensional circular arcs can be picked to fill bearings and distances.
  • Radiations are displayed in blue.
  • Ensure you save any changes to the closure prior to saving the project.
  • When lines or polygons are created, arcs are created as 2D 2 point arcs.
  • Computation are performed on the grid.
Possible errors
Error or Warning Description
Point Point name has already been adjusted in closure closure name. Closure closure name cannot adjust a fixed point. Once a vertex has been adjusted it can not be readjusted in another closure. You can use adjusted points as start or end points in a closure.
Point Point name in closure closure name has a coordinate class of Control (3D) and cannot be adjusted. Reclassify the point or use it as a start or end point in the closure or remove it from the closure.
Start coordinate not defined for closure 'Closure name'. The start point does not exist in the project and a coordinate has not been specified for the point.
End point not defined for closure 'Closure name'. You must specify the point or vertex that the closure ends on in the closure data grid.
Failed to complete operation. "Layer name layer is locked." Processing the closure results in vertices being updated. You cannot move a vertex on a locked layer.
Point name point name in closure 'Closure name' is ambiguous. There are multiple instances of a point with the name point name. The point with lowest unique id has been used. You should remove any ambiguity by making the point names unique.
Closure 'Closure name' contains incomplete rows. There is insufficient information in the data grid to compute a coordinate for the To point.
Polygon could not be created for closure closure name. The polygon edges created from the closure may cross. The closure may not form a closed loop.
Vertex Id Vertex id in closure closure name. The polygon edges created from the closure may cross. The closure may not form a closed loop.
