Description |
Object |
Input the object to which a vertex is to be added. |
Between |
Input the vertex at the start of the segment where the new vertex is to be inserted. |
And |
Input the vertex at the end of the segment where the new vertex is to be inserted. |
Vertex |
Input the vertex to add to the Object. |
Horizontal Offset |
The horizontal offset between the selected segment and the new vertex. |
Vertical Offset |
The vertical offset between the selected segment and the new vertex. |
Break object at vertex |
Select the checkbox to break a line or pipe object at the vertex. |
|
Notes |
- When selecting the Object, place the mouse pointer over the segment where the vertex is to be inserted. This will automatically insert the correct point name or vertex id in the Between and And boxes.
- You can insert vertices into lines, alignments, shapes or polygons.
- A vertex is inserted into an arc if it is positioned on the line of the arc.
- Vertices cannot be inserted into a transition curve.
- Only vertices from the object can be selected in the Between and And boxes.
- Vertices from a reference file cannot be inserted.
- For alignments with a specified horizontal design standard, you can insert a vertex into a straight section only. A curve will be recomputed at the new intersection point. If a curve does not display, a curve could not be computed within the constraints. On the Alignment tab, in the Properties group, click
to examine the curve computation.

Error |
Description |
Invalid Entry |
The vertex to add is already included in the object. |
Vertices do not form a valid segment |
A line, alignment, shape(pipe) or polygon segment does not exist between the Between and End vertices. |
