Layer Click the box to select a layer for the image.
Brightness Enter a value between -100 and 100. Negative values reduce the brightness and positive values increase the brightness.
Notes
  • You can choose if an image is placed on the active layer or a new layer, created using the name of the image.
  • Use the Layer tool to control the visibility of the image.
  • When in 3D mode, select the Background Images in 3D Display Option to display the entire image.
  • Select Images in the Display Options
  • When adding a non-georeferenced image or a georeferenced image on a Geographic (Lat / Long) projection, the Edit Georeferenced Image dialog is displayed so that the image can be georeferenced.
  • Externally referenced image files that are no longer available at their original location should be placed in the Image folder. The location of the Image folder can be configured via General Options.
  • Supported georeferenced image formats include Enhanced Compression Wavelet (ECW), GeoTIFF or any supported image format with an associated World file.
  • Supported non-georeferenced image formats include Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG), Bitmap image file (BMP), Portable Network Graphics (PNG) and Tagged Image Format File (TIFF). Only a single framed image is imported if the image contains multiple frames.
  • Image brightness is maintained when printing and exporting to AutoCAD, MicroStation and LISCAD CAD.
  • Georeferenced images are drawn first. You can control the order that multiple georeferenced images are drawn using the draw order of the layer.
  • Georeferenced images on visible layers will be exported to DWG, DXF, DGN and LisCAD Cad files.
  • Georeferenced images on visible layers will be printed.
  • Georeferenced images can be used in conjunction with an Imaging Service
  • In 3D view, you can use the image as a texture for terrain model faces. Configure Display Options to display images and terrain model faces, and the terrain model Face Colour to 'Object'.
  • When the image only partially overlays the terrain model, the image is used to texture the faces that are fully covered. The remaining faces will be transparent.
  • You can select a specific georeferenced image to texture the terrain model when you configure the terrain model appearance attributes.
  • If a Transformation is specified for the georeferenced image, and you change your project coordinate system and apply a transformation, ensure there is a suitable transformation included in the project that transforms from the georeferenced image's original coordinate system to the new coordinate system. If a suitable Transformation is found, it will be automatically applied to the georeferenced file when the projects coordinate system transformation is applied.
  • A world file is generated with the exported georeferenced image.
  • When exporting a georeferenced image, click Options to configure the image dimensions.
