Insert static text in the model view at the X and Y coordinates of the mouse pointer.

Controls Description
Style Select a style to define the appearance of the text.
Select 'None'' to use the text appearance settings defined for the active layer.
Text Box Type the text.
Rotation Input the rotation.
Height Method Select one of the following methods to input a height for the vertex:

When using informative mouse pointers:

Mouse Pointer Description
Pen Cursor Insertion Mode - Text will be inserted when you click in the model view.
Edit Cursor Edit Mode - An editable box will inherit its value from the vertex you click in the model view. See Controls.
Notes
  • To insert the text, ensure you are in insertion mode and the model is displayed in Plan view, then click in the model view at the location where the vertex is to be placed.
  • To return to insertion mode:
    • Click in the text box.
    • Pick a vertex in the model view to fill the control with a value.
    • Press the Tab key or Shift+Tab key to remove focus from a control in edit mode.
  • Click the Attributes tab to customise the text appearance when the style is 'None'. Return to the Create tab to insert the text.
  • Text is added to the active layer.
  • Static text is not connected to an object.
  • Click Single Select to discontinue inserting and return to the select menu.
  • Update the text style to update the appearance of all text using that style.
  • In the Attributes tool, editing the texts appearance attributes clears the Update Appearance box. Click the box to update the appearance attributes with the current text style settings. If the text style is 'None', the text is updated with the current layer display attributes.
  • Text appearance attributes that are defined 'By Layer' are updated when the layer attributes are updated.
  • If the text style is 'None' update the text appearance in the Appearance category in the Attributes tool. To update the text appearance to reflect changes made to the layer, clear the Update Appearance checkbox and then reselect the checkbox.
  • You can use tabs to align text on multiple lines.
  • Add special characters using the ALT keyboard sequences. The special character must be available in the font configured for the text.
  • Right click in the text box to access cut, copy, paste and select all tools from the context menu.
