Controls
Control Description
Terrain Model Select the terrain model to create contour lines from.
Major Interval Type the interval for major contour lines.
Minor Interval Type the interval for minor contour lines.
Create contours on separate layers Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to specify the layer on which the major and minor contour lines are created.
  • Clear the checkbox to create major and minor contour layers on the active layer.
Major Layer Select the layer for major contour lines.
Minor Layer Select the layer for minor contour lines.
Smooth the contours Select the checkbox if the contour lines should be smooth in appearance.
Create attributes Select the checkbox if attributes with the contour height value should be created for the line.
Attribute Select the attribute definition to use for the contour height value.
Total Height Difference: Click Solve to display the maximum height difference in the terrain model.
Number of Contours: Click Solve to display the number of contours that will be generated.
Notes
  • If Smooth the contours is selected then it could be possible for contours to cross at very tight apexes.
  • Height attributes can be added to contour lines when the major and minor contour lines are created on the active layer or if the specified height attribute is common for the major and minor contour layers.
  • Only attribute definitions of type Real4 and Real8 that are common to the major and minor contour layers are displayed in the Attribute control.
  • Contour height attribute values are created in the currently configured linear unit.
  • The Filter configured in the Layers tool restricts the layers displayed in the Major Layer and Minor Layer list.
