Control Description
Text Style Select a static text style.
Toggle show linked values Click to toggle between edit and view mode.
  • By default, you are in edit mode. You can type text in the text box or insert linked text.
  • When the button is depressed you are in view mode. You can view the text value that will be inserted but you cannot edit the text.
  • In edit mode, the name of the attribute or property displays for linked text.
  • In view mode, the value of the attribute or property displays for linked text.
New linked text Click to insert linked text.
Text Box Type the text or insert linked text.
Rotation Type the angle from horizontal to rotate the text.
Literal Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to create text exactly how it is typed in the Text box. Any text linked to properties will not be applied.
  • Clear the checkbox to include dynamic properties in the text format.
Notes
  • If you are inserting text only, click in the drawing view to insert the text.
  • If you are inserting text with a leader:
    • Click the start location for the leader, then click the second location and in the ribbon, click Draw Action or continue to click the location of leader vertices. If the leader style includes a landing the landing is applied to the end vertex.
    • The style used to create the leader is defined in the Leader Style dialog.
  • You can edit the format when New linked text is enabled.
  • If you edit the value of a property or attribute that text objects are linked to, all texts that display the value will update.
  • If you edit the text style, all texts that use the style are updated.
  • If you edit the leader style, all leaders that use the style are updated.
  • The text size defined in the text style should be an appropriate size for paper space.
  • If you do not select a text style the active layers text appearance settings at the time of creation are used.
  • To edit existing text:
    • Double click the text in the drawing.
    • In the Attributes tool, type a value in the Text box. (Only unlinked text can be edited in this way.)
    • In the Attributes tool, click Browse in the Text box.
  • Add special characters using the ALT keyboard sequences. The special character must be available in the font configured for the text.
  • Some linked text will relate to a viewport. Ensure you select the linked text for the correct viewport by checking the viewports unique identifier.
