Arc Components

Description

View the components of the circular arc that will be created.

Access

Home / Tools / Create / Line / Circular Arc / Components tab

Requirements
  • Solve Module
Controls The computed circular curve properties are displayed:

Control Description
Radius 2 or 3 dimensional radius.
Arc Distance 2 or 3 dimensional arc distance.
Chord Distance 2 or 3 dimensional chord distance between the start and end point.
Tangent Distance 2 or 3 dimensional tangent distance.
External Distance 2 or 3 dimensional distance from the intersection point to the mid-point of the line.
Middle Ordinate 2 or 3 dimensional radius distance from the mid-point of the arc to the mid-point of the chord.
Segment Area The 2 or 3 dimensional area bounded by the chord and the circular arc.
Sector Area The 2 or 3 dimensional area bounded by the circular arc and reference lines running from both the start and end points to the centre point.
3D If the checkbox is selected the distance components are 3 dimensional. If the checkbox is cleared the components are 2 dimensional.

Notes
  • View the Components prior to clicking OK.
  • The 3D circular arc setting determines if the arc components are displayed as 2d or 3d distances.
  • Where arcs are created automatically when vertices are picked in the model view, tentatively pick the final vertex, or type the vertex id to view the components prior to creating the arc.
  • Null values are displayed if a solution could not be computed.
Diagram The following diagrams illustrates the arc components.
