Horizontal Long Section by Alignment

(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design module)

Creates a long section along the full length of an alignment at a nominated elevation. The resulting long section will consist of two points, one at each end of the alignment. These long sections are useful for providing a "blank" long section that can be used for creating new vertical long section designs.

The Horizontal Long Section by Alignment dialog can be accessed from the following locations:

• From the Plan View, Profiles Task menu, select Profiles / Long Section / Horizontal / by Alignment;
• From the Long Section View, Profiles Task menu, select Long Sections / Create Horizontal by Alignment;
• From the Section Manager select an alignment then from the menu select File / Create Horizontal Long Section, or right click on an alignment to bring up the popup menu and then select Create Horizontal Long Section.

Item	Used to
Profile Along:	Select the alignment from the drop down list that the long section is to be attached to. If the Plan View is active it is also possible to snap to the required alignment. If the Section Manager was used to access this function then this field will default to the alignment that was selected at the time.
Long Section Name:	Enter the name of the long section. This can be a unique name up to 31 characters.
Elevation:	Enter the elevation for the long section.
Open Long Section in:	Select if the long section is to be displayed when created. The user has three options, they are. Do not open - If this option is selected the long section will be generated and a long section view will not be created. New Long Section View - If this option is selected a new long section view will be created and become the current view when the long section is generated. Long Section View X - All existing long section views are available for selection from the list. They are named Long Section 1, Long Section 2, etc. If there is only one existing long section view, then its name is "Long Section View". If you enter a long section name that already exists and then create a long section, you will be asked to "Append", "Overwrite" or "Cancel". If you choose to append or overwrite and the relevant long section is currently being displayed in one or more long section windows, then all instances of it will be replaced by the new version of the long section.
Editing Behaviour
Delete Affected:	This long section will be deleted if the Control Line beneath it changes position.
Delete Affected:	Points in this Long Section will be deleted if the Control Line changes position beneath them.
Scale Affected:	Points in this Long Section will retain their relative position along the Control Line.
Retain Affected:	Points in this Long Section will maintain their distance along the Control Line. Note that if the length of the control line changes their position on the line will change.
Attributes
Colour:	Set the colour attribute to any one of 256 colours, ranging from 0 to 255.
Line Style:	Open the line style library dialog box.
OK:	Checks that the elevation is valid, creates the horizontal long section and closes the dialog box. If the long section name used already exists a dialog box will appear asking whether to Append, Overwrite or Cancel.
Cancel:	Closes the dialog box.
