Export D-Spec

(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)

Allows the export of D-Spec files. The D-Spec standard (Drainage & Telecommunications – Optical Fibre standard) was created to enable Local Government authorities around Australia to participate in the use of a single specification when dealing with the creation of new council assets.

Note that there are various requirements that you need to adhere to regarding how you arrange data in the SEE file and the lookup file that is used in the export process. Please refer to the notes at the end of the dialog box help.

To obtain this option, select the "Export/D-Spec" command from the Data Conversions task to display the relevant dialog box.

Item Used to
Output Folder: Display the folder in which the D-Spec files are to be created.
Browse Change the Output Folder.
Export Format: Select the format of the D-Spec files, which may be either MapInfo MIF/MID or ESRI Shapefiles.
General Complete various data fields required by the D-Spec format. Do not use commas in these fields.
Transformation: Complete various data fields as required by the D-Spec format. Do not use commas in these fields. The WAPC number is only required in Western Australia.
Lookup File: Select the lookup file (.dlt) that defines various data to be exported to the D-Spec files. A default lookup file (Dspec.dlt) is distributed with the system and located in the LISCAD user folder language sub folder, but you may add others to suit particular export needs. They may be edited in a text editor such as Notepad. Refer also to the section below: D-Spec Lookup File.
OK Create the D-Spec files. These files will be created in the specified output folder and have names Pipes.xxx, Pits.xxx, Connections.xxx, where xxx is either MIF and MID (MapInfo) or DBF, SHP and SHX (ESRI), depending upon the Export Format selected.
If the file name to be created already exists in the destination folder a dialog appears asking if you want to overwrite the existing files. A log file is also displayed showing any errors or warnings resulting from the export process.
Cancel Close the dialog box without creating the files.

Notes:

Display and Block sensitive:

Only objects which are currently displayed will be exported. Refer to the Display/Groups and Display/Features command.

If there is a block currently active, then only those objects which are defined by that block will be exported.

SEE File Requirements:

The SEE file needs to be able to identify what LISCAD entities represent the Pits, Pipes and Property Connections, so that the export process knows exactly which LISCAD lines are to go out as Pipes and Property Connections and what points are to go out as Pits.
- Pit (cover) points are to be placed in a LISCAD Group called D-PITS.
- Pipe lines are to be placed in a LISCAD Group called D-PIPES.
- Property Connection lines are to be placed in a LISCAD Group called D-CONNECTIONS.
- Head Wall polygons are to be placed in a LISCAD Group called D-HEADWALLS.
- The D-Spec Pit number maps directly from the LISCAD Point ID of the Pit point.

There are further specifications concerning the graphical representation of the Pipes, Pits, Property Connections and Head/End walls described in the D-Spec specification, which it is expected the user is familiar with.

The SEE file should include the cadastral line work, i.e. Property boundaries and Road polygons, although this data is not graphically output. It is needed to determine what property or road that pipes and pits lie in. This in turn ascertains the street name of the pipe which is valid D-Spec data.
- Hence, the street name for a road polygon or a lot number for a lot polygon should be contained in the LISCAD polygon description attribute.

The SEE file should include the points that represent the invert level of a Pit, to enable the Pit Depth to be calculated.
- Pit invert points are placed in a LISCAD group called D-PIT_INVERTS. The export process will consider the proximity of the inverts to the Pit cover points to determine which invert belongs with which pit.

The SEE file should use a codetable designed for D-Spec which has the Pits, Pipes and Property Connections coded such that they display the correct symbols and line styles. Indeed, the dimensions of the Pit symbols will determine the Length and Width of the Pit, which is valid D-Spec data. The length of the Pit will correspond to the Dimension 1 of the symbol, the width will be the Dimension 2.

D-Spec Lookup File:

The Lookup Table for D-Spec has an extension *.dlt and is stored in the LISCAD User Folder language subfolder. The dlt file stores a list of LISCAD feature codes which map to data required in the D-Spec export. It is an ASCII file, and hence suitable for editing by the user with Notepad. It is comma delimited and has sections for PITS, PIPES and CONNECTIONS. A sample Dspec.dlt file is installed with the system. You can use that as a starting point to create your dlt file with the feature codes you use and the data that D-Spec requires.

The Section pertaining to PIPES contains the following data:
• Pipe type EG: Pipe, open, culvert, subsoil
• Diameter/Width EG: 450
• Height (For circular pipes, Default = -9999)
• Pipe material EG: RC
• Current operational status of the asset. EG: INUSE
• Shape of the pipe EG: CIRC
• 2nd pipe diameter when non-circular EG: 200
• Relining or renewal method EG: Cured in place
• Relined or renewed material EG: Fibreglass
• Type of the replacement cost of the asset EG: RC, DRC or ODRC

The Section pertaining to PITS contains the following data:
• Type of pit EG: JP, SEP
• Construction Type EG: Insitu
• Pit lid type EG: Grate
• Number of step irons EG: 4
• Existence of Litter Traps EG: Y or N
• The current operational status of the asset. EG: INUSE
• Existence of a fence around the asset EG: Y or N
• Type of the replacement cost of the asset EG: RC, DRC or ODRC

The Section pertaining to CONNECTIONS contains the following data:
• Property connection type EG: Extraction or Connection
• Property connection material EG: PVC
• Diameter of property connection EG: 450
• If silt trap exists EG: Y or N
• The current operational status of the asset EG: INUSE
• Type of the replacement cost of the asset EG: RC, DRC or ODRC

The Section pertaining to HEAD/END WALLS contains the following data:
• Type of structure, e.g. Headwall or Endwall
• Construction Type e.g. PC, which is a DSPEC code from a list of codes released by DSPEC
• Volume, volume of concrete of the asset, in cubic metres
• Width1, width of the head/end wall, in mm
• Width2, width of the apron, in mm
• Width2, width of the apron, in mm
• Length1, top length of the wingwall, in mms
• Length2, bottom length of the wingwall, in mms
• Height1, height of the head/end wall, in mms
• Height2, front height of the wingwall, in mms
• Height3, back height of the wingwall, in mms
• Thickness1, thickness of the head/end wall, in mms
• Thickness2, thickness of the wingwall, in mms
• Thickness3, thickness of the apron, in mms
• Litter Trap, does the asset have a Litter Trap (Y/N)
