Controls Description
Leader Style Select a style for the leader.
Select 'None' to use the leader appearance and position settings defined for the active layer.
Text Style Select a style for the text.
Select 'None' to use the text appearance settings defined for the active layer.
Text Box Type the text.
Rotation Input the rotation.
Height Method Select one of the following methods to input a height for the vertex:

When using informative mouse pointers:

Mouse Pointer Description
Pen Cursor Insertion Mode - A leader vertex will be inserted when you click in the model view.
Edit Cursor Edit Mode - The Rotation and Height control will inherit its value from the object you pick in the model view.
Notes
  • Ensure you are in insertion mode, then click twice to define the start and direction of the leader. Click End or press Enter to create the leader or continue to click in the model view to create additional segments to the leader.
  • Click the Attributes tab to customise the text appearance when the text style is 'None'. Return to the Create tab to insert the leader and text.
  • If the leader style includes a landing it is applied at the last location clicked.
  • Landing lines are not applied if the leaders Line Type is set to 'Spline'.
  • If the style is 'None' the active layers Display properties are used to create the leader or text.
  • The End button is disabled if you have not typed text into the text control.
  • Click Abort or press Esc to discard the leader and text currently in construction.
  • Leaders and text are created on the active layer.
  • The leader and text is created at the same height.
  • If you tentatively select an existing vertex to specify the start of the leader, the location of the selected vertex is used but a separate vertex is created for the leader.
  • The leader is redrawn if the text is moved.
  • Update the leader style to update the appearance and position of all leaders using that style.
  • Update the text style to update the appearance of all text using that style.
  • In the Attributes tool, editing the leaders Appearance properties or Text Appearance properties clears the Update Appearance checkbox. Click the checkbox to update the appearance attributes with the current style settings. If the style is set to 'None', the leader or text is updated with the current layer display settings.
  • In the Attributes tool, editing the Position properties clears the Update Position checkbox. Click the checkbox to update the position properties with the current leader style settings. If the leader style is set to 'None', the leader is updated with the current layer display settings.
  • Appearance properties that are set to 'By Layer' are updated when the layer Display properties are updated.
