Text object properties that may appear in the Attributes Tool Text group.

A selected text object.
The following properties may display depending on the text type of the selected text.

| Style | Text Style associated with the text. |
| Update Vertex | Select the checkbox to update the position of the text when the object it is linked to moves. |
| Update Rotation | Select the checkbox to compute the rotation angle using settings in the text style and the objects the text is linked to. |
| Update Appearance | If the text appearance has been modified, select the checkbox to revert back to the text style appearance properties. |
| Update Text | Clear the checkbox to preserve the current text value. If the object the text is linked to is modified the text will not update. Note:

| Reverse Direction | Toggle to reverse the direction of the bearing value. |
| Reverse Side | Toggle to reverse the side a bearing, angle or distance text is display on. |

For single line static text, click the Text control to edit the text value. For multiple line static text, click  to edit the text value.For linked text, the value displayed is dependent on the geometry of the object it annotates and the appearance properties. |
| Rotation | Type the rotation angle for the text where 0 is horizontal and increases clockwise. |
- Initially, the text style associated with the text object determines the text properties displayed.
- If the text Appearance properties are modified using the Attributes tool then the text object is automatically disconnected from the Display properties defined in the text style. Select Update Appearance to revert back to the text style display settings.
- If the Rotation is edited then the text object is automatically disconnected from the rotation computed from the text style. Select Update Rotation to revert back to the rotation computed from the text style settings and the linked objects.
- Right click in the text box to access cut, copy, paste and select all tools from the context menu.
