Options

The following options control the units used for display, entry and reporting of values.

Basic Description
Angular Angular unit.
Area Area unit.
Linear Distance unit.
Pressure Pressure unit.
Temperature Temperature unit.
Velocity Design velocity unit.
Volumes Volume unit.
Advanced Description
Coordinate Type Grid - Easting and Northing in the projects coordinate system.
Geodetic - Latitude and Longitude on the projects ellipsoid. The Height is an orthometric height.
Coordinate Order East / North - Show Easting before Northing.
North / East - Show Northing before Easting.
X / Y - If you have selected a user coordinate system, show X before Y.
Y / X - If you have selected a user coordinate system, show Y before X.
Direction Type Local Plane - Directions are local bearings. A Local Rotation is applied.
Plane - Directions are plane bearings.
Grid - Directions are grid bearings.
Azimuth - Directions are azimuths.
Direction Format Whole Circle - Display and input bearings as whole circle bearings.
Quadrant - Display and input bearings as angles from the North or South direction.
Distance Type Grid - Distance corrected for slope, sea level, geoid separation and scale factor.
Ellipsoid - Distance corrected for slope, sea level and geoid separation.
Ground - Distance corrected for slope only. If a point does not have an elevation then the Default Height is used.
Local Plane - A Local Scale Factor is applied.
Grade Type Percent - Grades as a percentage. Example: 6% is a rise of 6 units over a distance of 100 units.
Ratio - Grades as a ratio. Example: 1:10 is a rise of 1 unit over a distance of 10 units.
Angle - Grades as an angle. Horizontal = 0°
Chainage format Chainage - Use the chainage format (distance along the alignment), for labels and chainage text.
Station - Use the stationing format (each station represents 100 units.), for labels and chainage text.
User Parameters Description
Local Rotation Click Browse to select the local rotation to apply to keyed in Local Plane bearings. Plane Bearing = Local Plane Bearing + Local Rotation.
Local Scale Click Browse to select the local scale factor to apply to keyed in Local Plane distances. Grid Distance = Local Plane Distance * Local Scale.
User Coordinate System Click Browse to define, edit or select a user coordinate system to view objects in another reference frame.
Notes
  • If you select a plane coordinate system for the project some of the above options will not be available.
  • Coordinate order is applicable only when coordinate type is set to Grid.
  • For the Angular unit, Sexagesimal, enter values using the format D.MMSS. Example: Enter 35.4532 for 35°45'32".
  • For the Angular unit, Degrees Decimal Minutes, enter values using the format DMM.MM. Example: Enter 504.5 for 5°04.5'
  • If you select Ground as the Distance Type, ensure the Default Height is set to an appropriate value.
  • The Distance Type selected for the project determines the distance used to compute areas.
  • If you select a user coordinate system for the project, Coordinate Type, Direction Type and Distance Type will be automatically set to 'Grid', 'Plane' and 'Grid' respectively. The remaining options will not be available.
