Control Description
Name Type the name for the horizontal design standard.
Description Type a description for the horizontal design standard.
Transition Curve Type Select the transition curve type to use when the combined curves are computed at the horizontal intersection points.
Curve Computation When the radius is computed for the curve at the horizontal intersection point using the alignment velocity or velocity methods:
  • Design Minimum - Create curves at the minimum radius permitted by the design parameters and geometry, taking into consideration the minimum curve length.
  • Design Maximum - Create curves at the largest possible radius permitted by the design parameters and geometry, taking into consideration the minimum transition length, and the curve separation.
Lookup Rounding Select one of the following:
  • Round Up - Round up the velocity to the upper velocity in the.parameter set in order to derive the values for curve computation or creation.
  • Round Down - Round down the velocity to the lower velocity in the.parameter set in order to derive the values for curve computation or creation.
Curve Separation Type the minimum travel time in seconds between the separation of two curves, when travelling at the design speed.> Note:
  • If the two curves have a different design speed the largest computed separation distance is used.
  • Type a value between 0 and 100.
Notes
  • Use horizontal design standards when computing curves at alignment intersection points.
  • Sample horizontal design standards are provided in the LISTECH - Alpha template.
  • If you edit a horizontal design standard all alignments that use the standard are updated.
  • If you delete a horizontal design standard, all alignments that use the horizontal design standard will have their horizontal standard set to 'None'.
  • Regardless of if the velocity is rounded up or down:
    • The keyed in design velocity is always used when the minimum radius is computed.
    • If there is not a value to round to the computation will fail.
  • Editing a horizontal design standard which is used by an alignment on a locked layer will not change the appearance of the alignment.
  • When a horizontal standard is applied to an alignment the alignment will always start and end with straight.
  • Use the Import Configuration tool, to import a horizontal design standard into an existing project or template.
  • When configuring the curve separation, the time in seconds is equivalent to 3.6 x Austroads minimum separation factor. For example a curve separation of 2.52 seconds is equivalent to a 0.7 Vm value.
