Controls

Controls available depend on the object you are creating.

Control Description
Name Type a name for the first point or the generated object, or click Last name to increment to the next available name.
Linear Object Object - Input the line or alignment to create points along or select multiple linear objects in the model view.
Reference Line: Input the reference line.
Note:
  • When creating points, if a linear object is currently selected this control is not available.
Start Input the start vertex of the circular arc.
Centre Input the centre vertex of the circular arc.
End Input the end vertex of the circular arc.
Segments Type the number of segments required.
3D circular arc When creating circular arcs do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to compute the circular arc segments in 3 dimensions.
  • Clear the checkbox to compute the circular arc segments in 2 dimensions.
Clockwise Specify the direction of the arc:
  • Select the checkbox to draw the arc in a clockwise direction.
  • Clear the checkbox to draw the arc in an anticlockwise direction.
Note:
  • Toggle the checkbox to view a preview of the arc in the opposite direction.
Insert points into line When creating points and an editable line is selected do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to create points and insert the points vertices into the selected line.
  • Clear the checkbox to create the points only.
Note:
  • You can create points for transition curves but they can not be inserted into the line.
Notes
  • Create by number of segments from:
    • A single line, alignment or reference line. Click OK to create the points or segmented line. Type a value in the Segments control prior to picking the linear object or vertices to create the object(s) automatically when the linear object is picked.
    • A selection of lines or alignments - All lines and alignments in the current selection will be considered. Click OK to create the points.
    • Start, centre and end vertices for a circular arc. Click OK to create the segmented line.Type a value in the Segments control prior to picking the vertices to create the object automatically when the final vertex is input.
  • The heights of the created vertices will be interpolated based on the position along the linear object.
  • When creating points:
    • Select the mode required to input the linear object.
    • A line or alignment can contain a straight, spline, circular arc or transition curve.
    • Points are not created at the start and end of the line.
    • You can insert created points into a straight or circular arc segments.
  • All segments or distances between points are of equal 3 dimensional length unless
    • 3D circular arc setting is cleared when creating a circular arc line segment.
    • the object is a transition curve.
In these cases the segments or distances between points are of equal 2 dimensional length.
