Create a line from an existing polygon or shape.

Controls
Control Description
Name Type a name for the generated line or click Last name to increment to the next available name.
Object Input the shape or polygon to use to form the line.
Note:
- If the current selection includes a polygon or a shape, this control is unavailable and the selected objects will be used to generate the line.
Copy attributes Select the checkbox to copy all attributes from the polygon or shape to the created line.
Create on layer of object Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to create the line on the same layer as the object.
  • Clear the checkbox to create the line on the active layer.
Notes
  • Perform the operation on:
    • A single object - Input the object to be used in the creation of the line.
    • A selection of objects - Create a line for each polygon and shape in the current selection.
  • Pick a polygon or shape from the model view to automatically create the line.
  • Tentatively pick an object from the model view to view the id of the object that will be used to create the line, then accept the tentative pick to automatically create the line.
  • For polygons a bounding line is formed around the edge.
  • For face sets and extruding profiles, a line is formed along the edge of each face.
  • For cylinders, pipes, reducers and tees, a line is created along the centreline.
  • Lines are not created for spheres and tori.
  • The 2d or 3d setting for a circular arc segment in a polygon is preserved when a line is created.
