Control Description
Name Type a name for the generated polygon or click Last name to increment to the next available name.
Exclude objects with 'Use in Terrain Model' off Select the checkbox to only draw a boundary around objects that have either the:
  • Use in Terrain Model property set to 'Yes'.
  • Use in Terrain Model property set to 'By Layer' and the objects layer has the Use in Terrain Model property set to 'Yes'.
Note:
  • If the checkbox is cleared, the Exclude vertices with default height setting will determine if an object is used in the boundary computation.
Exclude vertices with default height Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to exclude any vertices that have a default height from the boundary computations.
  • Clear the checkbox, to consider using vertices with a default height in the boundary computation.
Note:
  • If the checkbox is selected, any lines or polygons that have a vertex with a default height are used, however the vertex with the default height and any segments going to or from this vertex are not considered in the boundary calculation.
  • If the checkbox is cleared, the Exclude objects with 'Use in Terrain Model' off setting will determine if an object is used in the boundary computation.
Notes
  • When a terrain model or point cloud is selected a polygon is created that attempts to surround the edge of the object. For other objects, a polygon is created that attempts a two dimensional best fit of the selected objects.
  • The polygon edge is formed by joining vertices with straights. If you require circular arcs, splines or transition curves in your boundary, you should create sections of the boundary manually.
  • You can classify the polygon as a boundary and use it in the creation of a terrain model.
  • To create a boundary around objects that will be used in a terrain model, ensure the breakline and boundary objects do not include vertices with default heights, then select both the Exclude objects with 'Use in Terrain Model' off and the Exclude vertices with default height checkboxes.
  • The Appearance properties of the polygon are set by the layer but can be overridden in the Attributes tab.
