This topic documents the concept of groups.
All points, lines, polygon and text objects in the data base dgm have a group attribute. The group attribute of an object assigns the object to that group. There may be up to 1024 different groups in any data base. The group names are user definable and may be up to 255 characters in length.
Unless otherwise specified by the user, objects are assigned to the "DEFAULT" group.
Groups may be created or selected via the Code Table Editor or via the Attribute commands.
Groups may be managed via the Display Groups command..
The group attribute is essentially a means of separating particular types of data.
For example you may wish to have all trees on a group called FLORA and all buildings on a group called BUILDING.
This enables you to tailor the view of the data base to suit your needs by specifying which groups are to be displayed.
Separating your data by group therefore provides total flexibility when working with the data.
You should therefore give considerable thought to what groups are needed for any particular job, and which objects should be part of each group.
