Transfer Long Section to PlanTransfer Long Section into Plan

(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design module)

Allows a long section to be transferred into the plan view of the data base by creating new points, lines and alignments as requested, with the long section elevations being applied to the points. For vertical parabolas and vertical arcs the user can select a change in elevation for creation of points along the vertical curve. A point will also be created at the vertical tangent points and the high or low point of the curve.

The Transfer Long Section to Plan dialog can be accessed from the following locations:

Transfer Long Section into Plan dialog box

Item Used to
Long Section Select a long section from the drop down list that is to be transferred to the plan view. If the Section Manager was used to access this function then this field will default to the Long Section that was selected at the time.
Starting Point Identifier This is point identifier to be used for the first point created. Subsequent points will have the numeric part of the identifier incremented.
This point identifier defaults to the last available identifier.
Default Point Code This is the code that will be used for points in the long section that do not already have codes associated with them. By default this is set to the currently active point code.
All points in the long section will be transferred into plan.
Code options for created points
All points use default code Select that all points created are to use the default code set above.
Code on LS used if available Select that long section point codes are to be used if they exist, or use the default code set above if they do not exist.
Existing point code used if available Select that existing point codes are used if they exist or if not, use long section point codes if they exist, or if not, use the default code set above.
Line Code Select this check box if you want lines created in the plan view to match the underlying horizontal geometry. By default this is set to the currently active line code.
Alignment Select this check box if you want the lines created to become a new alignment. Enter a name to be given to the new alignment.
The attributes of this alignment will be taken from the control alignment of the long section, if it is currently controlled by an alignment. i.e. If the controlling alignment is a secondary alignment then the new alignment created will also be a secondary alignment of the same primary alignment. If the underlying horizontal control is not an alignment then the alignment attributes will be taken from the currently set alignment attributes.
This Check box and edit field is only active if the Line Code has been selected.
Vertical Curve Elevation Change Enter a difference in elevation for the generation of points along the vertical curves.
This option will create points in the alignment at steps down the vertical curve. The purpose of this is to define the grade of the vertical curve on the alignment.
For Example, enter a change of 1 m, and for every metre the vertical curve drops, a point is placed in the alignment at this elevation.
Copy Long Section to New Control Line Select this check box to make a copy of the selected long section and associate it with the alignment created.
This check box is only active if the Alignment check box has been selected.
New Long Section Name Enter the name to be given to the copy of the long section selected.
This edit field is only active if the Copy Long Section to New Control Line check box has been selected.
Apply Validate the data entry fields and transfer the long section into the plan view.
