The Least Squares Adjustment command is used to display the Control File Editor. This editor may be used to create, edit and adjust control file observations, and create points in the data base with adjusted co-ordinates. The adjustment technique is Least Squares. (Refer to the Least Squares Theory topic for a brief discussion of this adjustment technique.)

Control files are created in this editor. They always have an ADJ extension. Note however that earlier versions of the system used CTL as the extension of the control files.

Control observations may be extracted into a control file from an existing field file. Alternatively control observations may be added manually.
