(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)
Selects which text, point, line, and polygon attributes are to be passed to the CAD file, and sets the text specifications and layer for each attribute. The settings are stored in the currently open CAD Output Parameter file. Refer to the Settings/Parameter File/Open command.
These selections and settings are made for each code in the data base. This enables each CAD Output attribute of each code in the data base to be individually specified giving total user flexibility over the CAD file to be created.

The Settings/Codes command is selected from the CAD Output task.
Code Settings dialog box
Item | Used to |
Code: | Select the current code which is to have its settings reviewed. You may add codes to the list box by typing a new code in and pressing Save. If a different code is selected and the previous code settings have been changed without having selected the "Save" button, the Code Settings Warning dialog box is displayed. If a code is selected from the drop down list it will load all the parameters previously set for that code. If a code is typed in the currently set parameters will not change even if the code name typed in already exists in the drop down list. This is so you can adopt the existing parameters of any code, make any appropriate changes and then save. If you do this with a code that already exists it will overwrite that code. |
Save: | Save any changes made to the settings. The settings are stored in the currently open parameter file. |
Close: | Close the dialog box. If code settings have been changed without having selected the Save button, the Code Settings Warning dialog box is displayed. |
Delete: | Delete the currently selected code from the parameter file. Note that you cannot delete the "DEFAULT" code. |
Set: | Display the various Set dialog boxes for setting the CAD layer and
where relevant the CAD text specifications for each attribute type. Refer to the Code Settings - Set Button Dialog Boxes topic. |
General Tab |
|
Add to Table | |
Co-ordinate | Select whether points with the current code are to be added to the Co-ordinate Table. Refer to the Settings/Tables/Co-ordinate command to determine the format and other selection criteria for this table. If this option is greyed out it is because the "Set for all codes" option is checked in Settings/Tables/Co-ordinate |
Short Line | Select whether short lines with the current code are to be added to the Short Line Table. Refer to the Settings/Tables/Short Line command to determine the format and other selection criteria for this table. If this option is greyed out it is because the "Set for all codes" option is checked in Settings/Tables/Short Line |
Arc | Select whether arcs with the current code are to be added to the Arc Table. Refer to the Settings/Tables/Arc command to determine the format and other selection criteria for this table. If this option is greyed out it is because the "Set for all codes" option is checked in Settings/Tables/Arc |
Radiation | Select whether radiation objects with the current code are to be added to the Radiation Table. Refer to the Settings/Tables/Radiation command to determine the format and other selection criteria for this table. If this option is greyed out it is because the "Set for all codes" option is checked in Settings/Tables/Radiation |
Legend | Select whether symbols and line styles with the current code are to be added to the Legend. Refer to the Settings/Legend command to determine the format and other selection criteria for the legend. If this option is greyed out it is because the "Set for all codes" option is checked in Settings/Legend |
Photos | Select whether photo attributes with the current codes are to be added to the photo table. Refer to the Settings/Tables/Photo command to determine the format and other selection criteria for the photo table. If this option is greyed out it is because the "Set for all codes" option is checked in Settings/Tables/Photo. |
Text Tab |
|
Text | |
Text | Select whether text is to be output to the CAD file for text with
the current code. Specify the CAD Output settings for text objects for each code. Proportionality: Select whether the font used is to be proportional or non proportional. The effect of a non proportional font is to evenly space the characters and numbers. |
Elevation | Select whether elevations of text with the current code are to be output to the CAD file. |
Code | Select whether codes of text with the current code are to be output to the CAD file. |
Point Tab |
|
Points | |
Default Sym. | Select whether the default symbol is to be output to the CAD file
for points with the current code. The default symbol to be used is selected from the CAD Output/Output command. |
Symbol | Select symbols with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Clip Symbol | Select whether lines are to be clipped to the edge of point symbols
with the current code. If this item is active then lines will be clipped to the edge of symbols with the current code. If this item is not active then the lines will be drawn to the origin of the symbol which is the actual point location. |
Identifier | Select the point identifiers of points with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
East | Select East Co-ordinates of points with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
North | Select North Co-ordinates of points with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Elevation | Select elevations of points with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Description | Select descriptions of points with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Code | Select codes of points with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Line Tab |
|
Point Attributes by Line | Check this option if you want the attributes of the points within the line to be placed with respect to the direction of the line. |
A point attribute can be placed along a line if 1. The point in the line has the same code as the line. 2. The line has the 'Points Attributes by Line' set. For instance, if these are set for a line and the elevation is set to 90 degrees, all points within the line, with the same code as the line, will have their elevations displayed at right angles at the beginning and end of the line or along the secant internally. If the 'View Convention' attribute of the line is set, view convention will be applied to the point attribute placed. If however, the elevation direction is set to 0 degrees, all points within the line, with the same code as the line, will have their elevations displayed in the direction of the line at the beginning and end. At secants, the text will be displayed in the direction of the forward line. |
|
Line | |
Line | Select lines with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Continuous | Select whether the line styles are to be drawn as continuous. This means that the pattern will straddle bends in the line. Note that the non continuous option proportions the pattern to ensure that each segment contains only entire patterns. |
Bearing | Select bearings of lines with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Underline | Select whether the bearings are to be underlined. |
Distance | Select distances of lines with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Underline | Select whether the distances are to be underlined. |
Description | Select descriptions of lines with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Code | Select codes of lines with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Grade | Select grades of lines with the current code for output to the CAD file. The grades and flow arrows are computed and displayed in the CAD file if the line segment points have elevations. The grade is always positive in the flow direction, positioned in the centre of the line, but offset to be well clear assuming there could be a stacked bearing and distance on the same side. The code bearing attribute (left/right) will govern the grade being drawn left or right of the flow grade direction. The grade units are as per Configure Units. |
Polygon Tab |
|
Polygons | |
Fill | Select hatching of polygons with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Description | Select descriptions of polygons with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Code | Select codes of polygons with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Area | Select areas of polygons with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Angles | Select internal angles of polygons with the current code for output to the CAD file. |
Note: | Even where an attribute type is selected for output to the CAD file,
it may only be output for any given object provided that the object
does in fact have that attribute. For example a line must have a bearing
attribute before its bearing may be output. If a code has been used in the database and the code has not been added to the parameter file currently open, you will be warned at the time of creating a CAD file. If this occurs, you should add the code with the appropriate settings in this dialog box before creating the CAD file. Objects with a code that is not in the currently open parameter file will be output to CAD according to the settings for the DEFAULT code. |
