Format Distance Text

Edit the format for the distance.
Access

Manage / Configuration / Text / Styles / Combined / Insert a new item or Edit selected item / General / Browse or

Controls

The controls available are dependent on the item being formatted.

Control Description
Unit Select the linear unit for the distance property.
Distance Type Select the distance type to display:
  • Grid - Distances are grid distances.
  • Ellipsoidal - Distances are ellipsoidal distances.
  • Ground - Distances are ground distances.
  • Local Plane - Distances are local plane distances.
  • 3D - Distances are slope distances.
Length Type Select the type of length the style represents:
  • Straight - Distance for straight lines.
  • Arc - Arc distance for circular arcs.
  • Chord - Chord distance for circular arcs.
  • Radius - Radius of circular arcs.
Format Specify the parameters to insert in the text object using the following notation:
  • Type ❴0❵ to insert the computed distance or chainage. (Required)
  • Type ❴1❵ to insert the linear units. (Optional)
Note:
  • Text parameters are inserted in the order specified.
  • Units displayed in the text object or long section are the units defined for the text style or long section. These units can be different to the project units.
  • You can insert additional text to be displayed with the linked text objects or values in the long section.
Display signed values Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to include the positive sign with the created text when appropriate.
  • Clear the checkbox to include negative signs only.
Notes
  • Use the distance format to:
    • Create linked text objects that display the distance property in a combined text style.
    • Display chainages, distances or radii in a long section view
  • These Unit and Distance Type settings are independent of the Linear units and Distance Type set in the projects unit options.
