Description |
| Chainage |
The chainage of the section marker. |
| Type |
The type of section marker:
- Chainage - Section markers are linked to the chainage distance.
- Horizontal - Section markers are linked to key vertices on the horizontal alignment.
- Interval - Section markers are linked to chainage distances at a specific interval along the horizontal alignment computed at the time of creation.
- Vertical - Section markers are linked to key vertices or crest or sag points on the long section.

| Notes |
- The alignment selected in the model is displayed by default.
- In 'Single' entry mode, type a chainage, or pick a vertex in the model view, to create a section marker. If the picked vertex is not on the alignment the chainage relative to the alignment is computed.
- In 'Multiple' entry mode, create section markers at specific intervals or at key points in the alignment.
- Horizontal section markers have the alignment label added as a suffix to the section marker type.
- Vertical section markers have the long section label added as a suffix to the section marker type.
- You can control the display of section markers in the Display pane of the Options tool.
- Click the column header to sort section markers. This will allow you to easily delete a selection of section markers.
- You can add section markers from multiple long section.
- Add section markers after the design of your horizontal and vertical alignment is complete.
- If you do edit the horizontal alignment or long section, you should review all section markers. The following edits to section markers may occur:
- For interval section markers, the distance from the start of the first affected segment is preserved and the distance from the start of the non affected segments are preserved. This may cause some markers to be deleted, some section markers to have a chainage different to the original chainage or require you to add new markers.
- For chainage section markers, the chainage is preserved which will cause the physical location of the section marker to change. If the original chainage marker was created by picking a vertex that was not part of the alignment, the section marker will no longer be at the location of that object and you should create the section markers again. If the new location of the chainage section marker is beyond the end of the alignment, the chainage of the marker will be updated to the end chainage.
- The chainage for horizontal section markers are recomputed. You will need to add new section markers for any new key points in the alignment.
- Removing a key point in the horizontal alignment will delete the section marker associated with the vertex.
- If the alignments chainage equation is edited:
- Interval section markers chainages are updated and the location on the alignment is unchanged.
- Horizontal section marker chainages are recomputed.
- Chainage section marker chainages are recomputed.
