Geoid Model

Description

Insert or edit a geoid model.

Access

Manage / Configuration / Coordinate Systems / Geoid Models / Insert a new item or Edit.

Controls
Control Description
Name Type the geoid model name.
File Name Click in the box then click Insert a new item to select a geoid model file.
Coordinate Type Displays the type of coordinates in the geoid model file.
Notes
  • Geoid model files supported include AusGeoid98/09 files (*.dat, *.txt), Canadian files (*.byn), EMG96 (World) files (*.GRD), Geoid 99/03 files (*.bin), OSGM02 files (*.txt), Leica GEM files (*.GEM) and AusGeoid09/2020 (*.gsb).
  • Configure the projects coordinate system to use the geoid model referenced in the data file.
  • When navigating to the geoid model file in the Open window, use the file type list to show supported file types.
  • When a data file that specifies a geoid model is imported, you will be prompted for the location of the geoid model if it cannot be found in the specified folder or previously used geoid model folders.
  • The default geoid undulation is used when the geoid model referenced in the data file is not found and a matching geoid model is not specified in the project coordinate system.
  • For best results use a NTv2 binary grid (.gsb) geoid model.
