Display GroupsDisplay Groups

Governs which groups are to be displayed.

The Display/Groups command may be selected from all Tasks in the Plan and 3D Views.

Item Used to
Group names: This is a multiple selection list box that lists all the Group names in the file.  To turn the display of Groups on or off click on the check box next to the Group name.
To select a Group click on the Group name to highlight it. Multiple selections can be made by holding down the Ctrl or Shift keys when clicking on Group names. Multiple selections can be turned on or off by clicking on the check boxes of the selected Groups.
None Deselect all Groups so that none will be displayed.
All Select all Groups for display.
Merge...

One or more Groups may be merged into a single existing Group.
Select the Groups that you wish to merge into one Group. On pressing the Merge button a dialog will appear listing the Groups you have selected and letting you select a Group to merge the selected Groups into.
After merging, the selected Groups will be deleted, as they will be empty.

Note 1: If a merged Group is in use by any of the current object attribute settings, the object attribute settings will be changed to the Group it was merged into.

Note 2: If the DEFAULT Group is merged into another Group the objects on the DEFAULT Group will be merged, but the Group will not be deleted.

Delete

One or more Groups may be deleted.
Select the Groups that you wish to delete. On pressing the Delete button a waning message will appear asking you to confirm the action.

All objects that are on the selected Groups will be deleted.

Note 1: If a deleted Group is in use by any of the current object attribute settings, the object attribute settings will be changed to the DEFAULT Group.

Note 2: If the DEFAULT Group is selected for deletion, all the objects on the DEFAULT Group will be deleted, but the Group itself will not be deleted.

Prefix/Suffix

When a group or groups are selected from the list, then the Prefix/Suffix group is enabled. If no group is selected, then the Prefix/Suffix group is disabled.The dropdown list in the Prefix/Suffix group will display four options Add Prefix, Add Suffix, Remove Prefix and Remove Suffix. When the Modify button is clicked, the selected groups will be renamed in the list according to the command displayed in the dropdown. If Add Prefix is displayed in the dropdown then the renaming will be [prefix][groupname]. If Add Suffix is displayed in the dropdown then the renaming will be [groupname][suffix]. If Remove Prefix is displayed, then the renaming will remove the specified text from the start of the group name. If Remove Suffix is displayed, then the renaming will remove the specified text from the end of the group name.

Note: The DEFAULT Group cannot be renamed.

Rename

If a single Group is selected the name of the Group will be displayed in the Rename edit field and the Rename button will be activated. The name of the Group can then be changed and clicking on the Rename button will apply the change.

Note: The DEFAULT Group cannot be renamed.

Manage Group Sets

Sets of active Groups can be saved to enable quick and easy combinations of Groups to be displayed.

To save an active Group Set: Check all the Groups that you want to be displayed, either type in a new name or select an existing Group Set name from the drop down list. Click on the Save button.

To restore an active Group Set: Select a Group Set from the drop down list. Click on the Restore button.

To remove an active Group Set: Select a Group Set from the drop down list. Click on the Remove button.

OK Save any changes to the Group display selections and close the dialog box.
Cancel Close the dialog box without saving any changes to the display of Groups.

If a group is selected for display, then all objects with that group are available to be displayed.

If a group is not selected for display, then all objects with that group are not available to be displayed.
