Each element in a data base may be assigned to a group. There may be up to 1024 different groups. The group names are user definable and may be up to 30 characters in length.
Unless otherwise specified by the user, all elements are assigned to the "DEFAULT" group.
Groups may be created or selected via the Code Table dialog box or via the Attribute commands.
The group attribute is essentially a means of identifying particular types of data. For example you may wish to have all contourable points and strings in a group called DTM and all non contourable points and strings in a group called PLAN.
This enables you to tailor the view of the data base to suit your needs by specifying which groups are to be displayed.
Groups may be thought of in terms of layers which can be turned on or off depending on your particular viewing needs at the time.
