Open FileOpens an existing data base and displays available data in the graphics window.
The File/Open command is selected from the Utilities task.

| Item | Used to |
| Look in | Select the folder in which the data base is located. |
| File name | Key in the name of the existing data base to be opened or to display a data base name selected from the list of displayed files. |
| Files of type | Select the types of files to be displayed in the file list. If the data base is of an earlier version the file will be copied and given an extension that reflects which version the file belongs to. E.g. if the file is a version 5.0 file it will be given an extension of .s50. The original file will then be converted to the current version. |
| Details... | Display the Details dialog box with the selected data base's
projection and details. Refer to the Details dialog box in the Edit/details command. This button is only active when a data base has been selected. |
| OK | Open the selected data base and close the dialog box. The OK button is only active after a data base has been selected. |
| Cancel | Close the dialog box without opening a data base. |
