Template Implementation Set Editor - Modifications

(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design Module)

Enables the templates that have been attached to the control to be modified to suit the local conditions. This is achieved by modifying combinations of offsets, elevations and grades at selected points on the template. This is useful for applying such things as superelevation and road widening.

This dialog box is accessible by pressing the Modifications button on the Template Implementation Set Editor.

Template Implementation Modifications dialog box

The table at the top of this dialog box displays all the modifications that are to be applied to the labels of the selected templates. The modifications are applied sequentially from the top down, thus allowing multiple modifications to be applied to the same template label if required.

The modifications are applied proportionally between the start and end distances. The full effect of each modification will not be applied until it has reached the end distance. At the end distance there is the option to either continue applying the modification in full or to stop applying it at the next template past the end distance.

The template modification labels that have a green tick against them are labels that have been referenced in the attached templates. Any template modification labels that have a red cross against them are not referenced by the currently attached templates. Labels with crosses against them will occur if labels have been previously selected from the attached templates and then the templates or template attachments have been edited again later. This will leave labels in the list that are no longer currently valid. These labels will be ignored when the template implementation set is processed and can be removed from the template modification list.

To be able to edit a template modification, click on the required row to highlight it.

Item Used to
Label This drop down list contains the labels of the currently attached templates. Select the label of the template point that you want to modify.
Start Distance / Start Chainage: Enter the distance or chainage along the primary alignment, depending upon the current alignment configuration, that you want the modification to start taking effect. If the alignment configuration is set for chainages there will be another Start Distance drop down list displayed. This list is to avoid confusion when there is more than one point along the alignment that shares the same chainage. This may occur if chainage equations have been used. Select the appropriate distance that you want the modification to apply to.
End Distance / End Chainage: Enter the distance or chainage along the primary alignment, depending upon the current alignment configuration, that you want the modification to take full effect. If the alignment configuration is set for chainages there will be another End Distance drop down list displayed. This list is to avoid confusion when there is more than one point along the alignment that shares the same chainage. This may occur if chainage equations have been used. Select the appropriate distance that you want the modification to apply to.
Offset & Elevation: Selecting this radio button will enable the Offset and Elevation edit fields allowing you to enter the required modifications.
Grade & Offset: Selecting this radio button will enable the Grade and Offset edit fields allowing you to enter the required modifications.
Grade & Elevation: Selecting this radio button will enable the Grade and Elevation edit fields allowing you to enter the required modifications.
±Offset: Enter the change in offset that you want to occur at the template label point. Enter a positive value to move the point away from the control line. Enter a negative value to move the point towards the control line.
±Elevation: Enter the change in elevation that you want to occur at the template label point. Enter a positive value to move the point up. Enter a negative value to move the point down.
±Grade: Enter the change in grade that you want to occur along the line to the template label point. Enter a positive value to increase the grade. Enter a negative value to decrease the grade. Changes in grade must always be entered in percent regardless of what the units configuration is set for.
Apply to: Select one of the following:-
<-- to apply the changes to templates attached to the left of the control line;
--> to apply the changes to templates attached to the right of the control line;
<--> to apply the changes to templates attached to either side of the control line.
Continue: Select this check box if you want the modifications to be continued to be applied beyond the end distance. To overwrite this modification further along the control alignment, enter another modification to reverse the effect of the modification currently taking effect.

If Continue is not selected the modifications will cease to be applied as soon as the next template is reached past the end distance.
Up / Down Arrow Buttons: Use these buttons to change the order of the modification commands. The modifications are applied sequentially so it is possible to apply more than one modification to the same template label point. As templates are applied, the system will see if the modification is to be applied at the current distance along the control line. If the distance is valid it will apply the modification and then move on to the next modification instruction.
To change the order of the instructions, select a row by clicking on it and then press the appropriate arrow button to move the selected row up or down.
Insert: If a row is selected in the table the new instruction will be inserted above the selected row. If no rows are selected the new instruction will be inserted at the end.
Replace: Replaces the selected row with the new instructions that have been entered.
Remove: Removes the selected row from the table.
OK: Saves the current modifications, closes the dialog box and returns to the main Template Implementation Set Editor dialog box.
Cancel: Cancels any editing to the modifications, closes the dialog box and returns to the main Template Implementation Set Editor dialog box.

Note: Whenever a row is selected the information in that row is copied down into the edit fields. When inserting or replacing always select the desired row first and then make the appropriate changes.
