(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design module)
Creates a new long section between all points that fall between the two point identifiers entered. When the long section is generated, a straight line between each of the points within the range is assumed.
To obtain this option, select the Profile/Long Section command and the Method/by Point Range command from the Profiles task to display the relevant dialog box.
The long section to be created uses the parameters set in the Long Section Parameters Dialog Box.
Long Section by Point Range dialog box
Item | Used to |
Long Section name: | Enter a new long section name into the list, or select an existing long section
from the list. If the long section name has already been used, you will be
given the option to overwrite it with the new long section when the OK button
is selected. This can be a unique name up to 31 characters. |
Point Range | Enter a pair of point identifiers separated by .. through the keyboard, or if this field is active, snap to any two points in the plan view. |
Open Long Section in: | Select if the long section is to be displayed when created. The user has three options, they
are.
If you enter a long section name that already exists and then create a long section, you will be asked to "Append", "Overwrite" or "Cancel". If you choose to append or overwrite and the relevant long section is currently being displayed in one or more long section windows, then all instances of it will be replaced by the new version of the long section. |
Parameters: | Open the Long Section Parameters Dialog Box. |
Create: | Generate the long section and close the dialog. Notes: The long section created will only be defined within the area where elevations can be extracted. For instance, if the line defined by the point range starts beyond the area of a model from which the elevations are being extracted, the long section will only commence at the edge of the model. If the long section name used already exists a dialog box will appear asking whether to Append, Overwrite or Cancel. |
Close: | Close the dialog without generating a long section. |
