Cross Section Parameters

(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design module)

Allows cross section parameters to be changed.

Cross Section Parameters dialog box

Note that changing any of the parameters in this dialog box will not change the parameters of any existing cross sections.

Item Used to
Build Cross Section From
Model: Create cross sections from a selected model. Elevations for cross sections will be interpolated along the face of all crossing triangle surfaces.
Objects: Create cross sections from point object elevations.
Data Set: Display the name of the database that contains the model that is to be used in the cross section creation.
Browse: Select a database from which a model is to be used in the cross section creation. This may be the currently open database or any other SEE database.
Model Name: Select the name of the model in the database that has been selected to be used in the cross section creation.
Only use objects with elevations: Used to select all objects with elevations to be used in the cross section creation.

For Alignment Intersections this will be the elevation graded along the alignment, between the two points either side of the section marker line.

For Crossing breaklines this will be the elevation graded along the break line, between the two points either side of the control line.

For Crossing planimetric lines this will be the elevation graded along the planimetric line, provided that the points either side of the control line both have elevations.

If the Points Within Range is selected, it will pick up all points that fall within the defined offset and range parameters that have elevations.
Insert points at objects without elevations: Select all objects along the section marker line that do not have elevations to be used in the cross section creation.
The distance of the object along the section marker line will be determined and a point will be inserted into the cross section. These inserted points will have their elevations determined by grading or extrapolating from the points already in the cross section. Inserting these points will not change the shape of the cross section.
Points: Create a "Point" profile. i.e. When the cross section is created the resulting profile will consist of points only.
This option should be selected if the cross sections that are to incorporate points that are not necessarily part of the actual cross section surface.
Example: overhead power lines, underground services, etc.
Closed Loop: Generate a closed loop for the cross section.
Example: Cross section of a tunnel.
Surface: Generate cross sections from the selected model or objects.
Profile Along the Section Marker Line
This Group is used to determine which objects and positions the section is to be created from along the control line.
Alignment Intersections: Interpolate at an elevation at the intersection points of any alignment lines crossing the section marker line. This will be an elevation graded along the alignment, between the two points either side of the section marker line.
Crossing Break lines: Interpolate an elevation at the intersection points of any break lines crossing the section marker line. This will be an elevation graded along the break line, between the two points either side of the section marker line.
Crossing Planimetric Lines: Interpolate an elevation at the intersection points of any planimetric lines crossing the section marker line. This will be an elevation graded along the planimetric line, provided that the points either side of the section marker line both have elevations.
Points Within Range: Select points to be used in the cross section creation that are to be searched for within a range of the section marker line. The Range field will only be active if this check box has been selected.
Range (+/-): Enter the search range for either side of the section marker line. A positive non-zero number must be entered for the range.
Example: A range of 1 metre will define a search area 1 metre to the left and 1 metre to the right of the section marker, for the length of the section marker line.
Find all Corridor Of Interest Intersections: Create cross sections along the section marker line between all pairs of intersection points that are computed between the section marker line and the corridor of interest.

If this option is selected and the projected section marker line crosses a corridor of interest more than once, i.e. if the corridor of interest is a "U" shape then cross sections will be created each time the section marker line crosses the corridor of interest.

If this option is not selected the cross section will be formed between the pair of points that intersects with the section marker line and corridor of interest closest to the primary alignment.

This check box only applies to cross sections performed against Corridors of Interest created by Freehand.
Editing Behaviour
Retain Affected: Sections in this Cross Section Set will move if editing of the control alignment causes the Section Marker the section is attached to move in space.
Delete Affected: Sections along this Cross Section Set will be deleted if the Section Marker they are associated with moves due to any editing of the plan objects that make up the primary alignment
Attributes
Colour: Set the colour attribute to any one of 256 colours, ranging from 0 to 255.
Line Style: Open the line style library dialog box.
OK: Close the dialog box and set the current cross section parameters for any newly created cross sections.
Cancel: Close the dialog box without applying any changes made to the cross section parameters.
