The rounding or number of places to which areas are displayed and output, provided the Display Features Rounding option is set to on.
If this is set to off then the areas will be displayed according to the precision set in Configure/Areas command.
Three area rounding types may be defined. Any of these rounding types may be assigned to particular areas thereby enabling different areas to be displayed at different roundings.
The area rounding types are set using the Configure/Areas command located in the Utilities task.
- Example
- If the Configure/Units command has been used to select metric area units,
- and
- the Configure/Areas command has been used to define rounding type 1 as:
-
- Rounding 0.1m for areas less than 100ms
- Rounding 1m for areas less than 10,000ms
- Rounding 0.001 hectare for areas less than 100,000ms
- Default Rounding as 0.01 hectares.
- then Areas defined as rounding type 1 would display as follows:
Area | Display | |
25.736 | 25.7 m2 | |
152.432 | 152 m2 | |
9,945.467 | 9,945 m2 | |
52,367.764 | 5.237 Ha | |
101,234.567 | 10.12 Ha |
The minimum value for the major unit can now be set by inserting an Area Change value in the Area Configuration dialog.
e.g. AreaChange=2.0 will show all areas above 2.0 as hectares or acres and all areas below 2.0 as square metres or square feet.
If this command is not used then the system uses a default value of 1.0
