Sets Summary

(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)

Produces a summary report on sets of angles (directions and vertical circle readings) from a selected field file.

This report can only be generated from record type 160 in the selected field file. This is the record type used for recording sets of observations in the field file. Refer to the Field File Structure topic in the Help System.

Note that sets can be automatically generated in the field file when it is created using the Create Field File command. But they can only be generated if the feature is supported in the field operation codes used in the RAW file. Refer to the Field Coding topic for information about the field operation codes available for the various instrument types

The Field File may also be edited using the Field Transfer/Resolve/Edit Field File command.

Item Used to
Look In: Select the folder where the field file is to be selected from.
File name: Key in or display the name of an existing field file from which the Sets Summary is to be reported.
Files of type: Select the type of files to be displayed in the file list.
Mean all Verticals Set whether all vertical circle observations are to be included in the report.
If the check box is checked, then all vertical circle readings will be included whether observed with a distance or not. Leave the box checked if all vertical circle readings were taken to the same target heights for each particular point.
If the check box is not checked, then only vertical circle readings taken with a distance observation will be included. You leave the check box unchecked as a quality control measure to ensure that vertical circle readings included were all taken to the prism.
OK Produce a Sets Summary report if the field file contains observations of sets (record type 160).
This summary report on sets of angles (directions and vertical circle readings) is generated.
You may use the Options menu to print the report or save the report to a text file.
Cancel Close the dialog box without producing a report.

An explanation of the fields that the report generates is provided below:

Horizontal Is the average of the face left and face right horizontal circle observations.
Split Is the difference between face left and face right horizontal circle observations.
Residual Is the difference between "Horizontal" and "Mean of the Set: Horizontal".
Mean of Set: Horizontal Is the mean of the "Horizontals".
Vertical Is the average of the face left and face right vertical circle observations.
Face Diff Is the difference between face left and face right vertical circle observations.
Residual Is the difference between "Vertical" and "Mean of the Set: Vertical".
Mean of Set: Vertical Is the mean of the "Verticals".

Please Note: To see the actual observation values, you should look at the Raw or Field file.
