Display Features 3D View - Model Tab

The Model tab controls how DTMs are to be displayed in the 3D View, with respect to surface rendering and edge display.

3D View Model tab option

Item Used to
Model Select the required model to be displayed by clicking the arrow on the Model name combo box and then clicking the required model in the drop down box.
Edges Turns edge display on or off for the selected model. Edges are coloured according to the edge colour defined for the Model. (See View/Edit Model Attributes)
Faces Controls how the faces (triangles) are to be coloured.

Off means that faces are not displayed. If Edges are displayed with this setting, the result is a wire-frame model.

Model Colour means that faces are all coloured according to the single model colour defined for the Model. (See View/Edit Model Attributes)

Model Texture means that faces are all textured according to the single model texture defined for the Model. (See View/Edit Model Attributes)

Triangle Texture/Colour means that faces are coloured/textured individually, according to the configuration of each triangle. If a triangle has a texture, it is textured accordingly, else the colour of the triangle is used. (See View/Edit Triangle Attributes)

Discrete Colour Banding means that the model is coloured according to the elevation of each vertex of the triangles. The maximum and minimum elevations of the database are used to calculate a range of elevations for each band, and each triangle is coloured according to what band it falls into.

Note: This option is disabled if any Background Images have been selected as Discrete Colour Banding cannot be displayed in conjunction with Background Images.

Smooth Colour Banding is the same as Discrete Colour Banding except the colours are then blended according to the change in elevation.

Note: This option is disabled if any Background Images have been selected as Smooth Colour Banding cannot be displayed in conjunction with Background Images.
Band By Select how the colours are banded.

Elevation according to the settings in Configure/3D/Elevation Banding.

Grade according to the settings in Configure/3D/Grade Banding

Aspect according to the settings in Configure/3D/Aspect Banding

Background Images Allows for background images referenced in the database to be draped over the model. The referenced position of the background image controls where on the model it will be draped.

This control is a multi selection List Box, allowing for the selection of multiple Background Images.

The quality of the background image can be controlled from the Configure 3D dialog to improve performance with contrasting loss of quality.
OK Save any changes and close the dialog box.
Cancel Close the dialog box without saving any changes.
System Hold all the settings so that they can be used for any new database.
