(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)
Nine different origin settings are available for defining text specifications for output to a CAD file.
Note that the text is actually placed in the CAD file such that its origin is at the closest possible position to the point to which the text refers.
The nine available origin positions (indicated by an x) are shown below, each with its corresponding text position in relation to the point to which the text refers. The point referred to is located at the middle centre origin.
Right Bottom | Centre Bottom | Left Bottom |
x | x | x |
Right Middle x | Centre x Middle | x Left Middle |
x | x | x |
Right Top | Centre Top | Left Top |
As can be seen above, the text is placed in relation to the point at a diagonally opposite position to the text origin description.
For example, a lower right origin causes the text to be placed upper left of the point, such that the text origin is always closer to the point than is the text itself.
Text origin for CAD output may be set in the CAD Output/Settings/Codes command.
Note that if you use middle centre origin for point elevations, the decimal point will not be included in the elevation text created for the CAD file. Instead, the decimal point is replaced with a blank character. This enables the point symbol to be viewed at the location where the decimal point would normally be seen. To ensure that the elevation text is drawn in the CAD file to correctly straddle the point symbol, ensure that you select a non proportional font for the elevation text.
The distance from the point to the various origin positions is governed by the size of the symbol output to the CAD file on the particular point(s). If no symbol is output, the distance is based on the size of the default point symbol.
