Importing Files

LISCAD DOS CAD, AutoCAD and MicroStation files can be imported into a CAD drawing.

AutoCAD and MicroStation files can be imported using a Conversion File.

To import a file.

1. Select either File/Import or the Import button from the toolbar.
2. In the Import File dialog box select the folder where the file that is to be imported is.
   Select either a LISCAD DOS CAD, AutoCAD or a MicroStation file to be opened from the Files of type list.
3. Select the file to be opened or enter the name of the file in the File name box.
4. When importing an AutoCAD or MicroStation file, select from the Conversion list a conversion file to be used when importing or select None from the list if no conversion file is to be used.
   To edit an existing conversion file or create a new one, select Configure.
5. Open to import the file and close the dialog box. Alternatively, select Close to shut down the dialog box without importing a file.

The following AutoCAD versions and file types can be imported.

The following MicroStation version and files types can be imported.

• DGN Files
• MicroStation 95 (Version 7)
• MicroStation Version 8

Images in AutoCAD and MicroStation V8 are also imported into LISCAD. However you must ensure that these images have been placed in the correct directory (Defined in the AutoCAD/MicroStation V8 file) and that the image type is supported by LISCAD.

  You can use the clipboard to Cut, Copy, Paste and Paste Special to copy part or whole LCD files onto other LCD files.
  Simply open the file you wish to import and select the required objects by any of the selection methods. Then select Edit\Copy or Edit\Cut to place the selection into the clipboard.
  Open the job that you want to copy the selection into and select Edit\Paste to bring the contents of the clipboard into the job.
  The selection will appear attached to the cursor. Alternatively, select Edit\Paste Special to bring the selection into the open job in the selection’s original co-ordinate position.
• Importing LISCAD DOS CAD files tip
  
  Pen colours and line widths can be re-assigned when importing a LISCAD DOS CAD drawing file.
  To do this, a text file named 'DOSCAD.CNV' must be created and located in the user definable User Folder. This file contains lines with the following space separated fields.
  'OldColourNum' 'NewColourNum' ’NewLineWidth'
  Where:OldColourNum, is the LISCAD DOS CAD colour number.
  NewColourNum, is the new colour number.
  NewLineWidth, is the new line width.
  For example, to change LISCAD DOS CAD colour 1, to colour 0, with a line width of 0.18, the line must read.
  1 0 0.18
  Note: Line width is in millimetres.
