Import Dialog

(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module unless otherwise stated below)

On selecting one of the following hardwired import techniques a dialog will display enabling you to select the file to import. After the file has been selected there may be other input required. Please refer to the help for the particular import selected.

Import Data File dialog box

Item Used to
Look in Select the folder in which the file is located.
File name Key in the name of the file to be imported.
The file may also be selected from the list of displayed files.
Files of type Select the type of file to be imported. Refer to the end of this topic for the file types available.
If the required file type is not in the list, first install it via the Install button.
Code Table Select the code table to be used in the import process.
You should select a code table which has feature codes defined which match the feature codes in the file to be imported.
Refer to the Code Table topic and the Utilities/ Tables/Code Table commands for additional information on the benefits and use of code tables.
Identifier Options
Identifier Prefix Select that a prefix is to be added to the start of the point identifiers of the points being merged in from the source file.
Numeric Part Select that an offset is to be added to the numeric part of the point identifiers of the points being merged in from the source file.
Identifier Suffix Select that a suffix is to be added to the end of the point identifiers of the points being merged in from the source file.
Prefix Key in the prefix that is to be added to the point identifiers of the points being merged in from the source file.
This field is only available if the "Identifier Prefix" merge option is selected.
Offset Key in the offset that is to be added to the numeric part of the point identifiers of the points being merged in from the source file.
This field is only available if the "Numeric Part" merge option is selected.
The offset value may be positive or negative.
Suffix Key in the suffix that is to be added to the point identifiers of the points being merged in from the source file.
This field is only available if the "Identifier Suffix" merge option is selected.
Largest LISCAD Id Displays the largest Id currently in the LISCAD data base. This is displayed as a guide to deciding what offset to apply to the data being imported.
Alternate Coding Select whether alternate coding is to be used.
This item is only relevant for certain file types. Refer to the additional help, at the end of this topic, for the particular type of file being imported, if this item is available.
Transformation Transformation is only available when Leica System 1200 or Leica Viva or Google KML data is being imported.
Select a transformation to transform WGS84 co-ordinates from the Leica database or KML data to the currently set LISCAD projection co-ordinates.

Import Import is only available when Leica Nova or Leica Stella data is being imported.
Select whether to import geometry only, scans only, or both geometry and scans.
(See the Import Leica DBX help topic for further explanation of these options)
Scan Pt Colouring By: Only available when Leica Nova or Leica Stellar data is being imported.
Select whether to import the true colours of the scan points or to generate colours based on the scan point intensity.
OK Import the file(s) and close the dialog box.
Cancel Close the dialog box without importing the file.
Lookup... Display the Lookup Tables dialog for matching codes, line styles and symbols in the other system to LISCAD.

When using hardwired import techniques, LISCAD will remember the folder path that was last used with the import and set the initial folder location accordingly.

If any errors or warnings are detected during the import process, the Errors/Warnings dialog box will be displayed. You may click the appropriate button to view or print the errors and warnings. Alternatively, click the Cancel button to exit from the Errors/Warnings dialog box. Note that any errors or warnings may also be viewed or printed using the Data Conversions/Errors commands.
