Control Description
Name Type the name to assign to the created terrain model or click Next auto incremented name to use the next available auto incremented name.
Use name as layer Do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to create the terrain model on a layer with the same name as the terrain model.
  • Clear the checkbox to create the terrain model on the active layer.
Note:
  • The created layer is based on the defined template layer or the active layer if a template is not defined.
  • Ensure the name is a valid layer name.

Terrain Model Select a terrain model from the list.
Reduction Method Select a technique for simplifying the model:
  • Percentage Removed: Type the maximum percentage to reduce the terrain model by.
Notes
  • Simplifying a terrain model will reduce its accuracy. You should verify that the simplified model is suitable for the application.
  • Both techniques remove vertices from the terrain model. This is best suited for dense terrain models.
  • View the generated Terrain Model Simplification Report to get an indication of the accuracy of the simplified model.
  • Create a terrain model using the Terrain Model Intersection method to verify the differnece between the original terrain model and the simplified terrain model is acceptable. Set the Face colour display option to 'Height' to clearly see the faces with the largest differences.
  • Larger differences may be seen on surfaces with steep faces or large slope changes.
