- Indicates the layers display settings for the viewport are the same as the display setting for the model view.
- Indicates the layers display settings for the viewport are independent from the display setting for the model view.

A viewports layer is automatically disconnected from the model view when:
- A viewport is created.
- A layers visibility is changed in the Layers - Viewport tool window.
- A new layer is created after the creation of a viewport.
-
If you connect a layer to the model view:
- The visibility state of the equivalent model layer is used for the viewport layer.
- Objects, newly created in the model and placed on a visible connected layer will be visible in the viewport.
- Any change to a layers visibility in the model view is reflected in the viewport.
- model view data is not displayed when you zoom to a level where the viewport dimensions exceeds the supported values.
- Locking a viewport restricts editing.
-
When a viewport is copied and pasted within the same project the following are preserved:
- The viewports display options.
- The viewports properties.
- The viewports layer display settings and synchronised state.
- The viewports layer visibility and connectivity state.
-
When a viewport is copied and pasted, or imported into another project:
- The viewports display options are preserved.
- The viewports properties are preserved.
- For layers common to the project and the copied viewport, the viewports layer display settings and synchronised state are preserved.
- For layers common to the project and the copied viewport, the viewports layer visibility and connectivity state are preserved when valid. If the viewports layer is connected to the model view and the visibility of the viewports layer is different to the project, the projects layer visibility is preserved.
- Objects displayed in the viewport are not copied. If you require the data with the viewport, import the project or copy the required model data prior to copying the viewport.
