Data Export to Leica DBX Job

Description

Export data in Leica DBX format suitable for use with Leica Captivate or SmartWorx software.

Access

Home / Data / Export / Leica DBX Job

Requirements

Xchange Leica Survey module

Options

The following properties allow control of the export.

General Description
Content If there are objects selected then only selected objects are exported.
Displayed - If no objects are selected then only visible objects are exported.
All - If no objects are selected then all objects are exported regardless of whether they are visible.
Target SmartWorx - Data is intended for use with SmartWorx software.
Captivate (prior to v2.30) - Data is intended for use with Captivate software (versions earlier than 2.30).
Captivate (v2.30 to v7.53) - Data is intended for use with Captivate software (versions between 2.30 and 7.53).
Captivate (v8.0 or later) - Data is intended for use with Captivate software (versions 8.0 of later).
Curve Tolerance Type the maximum offset distance from a line to the chord between adjacent vertices in the line. Use this value to control the smoothness of circular arcs and splines that need to be output as straight line segments.
Use Unique Id as Name Use the unique id as the name when a name does not exist for the object.
Create Points for Vertices Export a point when a point does not exist for an exported vertex.
Export Image Attributes Select the checkbox, to export the objects image attributes.
Coding Description
Line Codes If Target is Captivate (version 2.3 of later), do one of the following:
  • Select the checkbox to export line codes and their attributes in addition to point codes.
  • Clear the box to only export the point codes for the line and polygon vertices.
Note:
  • If checked, line codes and their attributes are only exported for line and polygon objects on layers where the Intended Use is set to Lines or Polygons.
Lookup Tables Description
Layer Select the Layer lookup table to be used during the export.
Attribute Definition Select the Attribute Definition lookup table to be used during the export.
Line Style Select the Line Style lookup table to be used during the export.
Hatch Select the Hatch lookup table to be used during the export.
Notes
  • Points, lines, polygons and shapes and their associated attributes can be exported.
  • Codes are determined from the objects layer.
  • 2D circular arcs are exported with vertices heights.
  • 3D circular arcs are converted to polylines using the Curve Tolerance.
  • Export an alignment to Captivate using a format supported by the controller then link the alignment to job.
  • When exporting to captivate, coordinate systems that reference a geoid model will be exported with the geoid model name. You must load the geoid model with the same file name to Captivate to be able to use this coordinate system in Captivate.
  • Shapes are exported as a group of point and line objects. Each object is given the code and attributes of the shape.
  • To export a face, face set, sphere or torus, points must be created for vertices.
  • When exporting to Captivate code names will be truncated to 48 characters.
  • When exporting to Smartworx and Captivate (prior 2.30) code names will be truncated to 16 characters.
  • If Target is Captivate (2.3 to 7.53), you can export up to 20 attributes per code.
  • If Target is Captivate (8.0 or later), you can export up to 60 attributes per code.
  • For Smartworx, to view attributes for lines, create points for vertices on export.
Possible errors
Error Message Description
An error occurred while writing 'file name'. File may be corrupt. Usually indicates the amount of data being exported is too big for the DBX. Try eliminating unrequired data, or segmenting the job.
Attribute definition name 'Attribute name' on layer 'Layer name' is not unique. The layer definition contains multiple attributes with the same name but different type. Attribute names must be unique for this export format.
Group attributes have not been exported. Groups are not supported with this export format. Any attributes in groups have not been exported. You can use a query to copy the value of the group attribute into an attribute that is not part of a group.
Multiple instances of Point Point id attribute Attribute name have been found. The first attribute Attribute name has been exported. You have added multiple instances of an attribute to an object. The first instance of the attribute has been exported.
