The purpose of the section manager is three fold: -
-To control primary and secondary relationships between alignments;
-To be able to view what long sections and cross section sets have been generated and what control line they are attached to;
-To view and control which long and cross sections are displayed in which windows.
The left-hand tree structure shows the primary / secondary relationships between alignments. A secondary alignment can be created by dragging and dropping a primary alignment on to another primary alignment. A secondary alignment can just as easily be changed back to a primary alignment by dragging the secondary alignment off the primary and dropping it at the alignment root level.
The left-hand tree structure also shows all the control lines for long sections and cross section sets.
Control lines for long sections can either be: -
Primary or secondary alignments;
Any line type except for circles and offsets;
A range of point identifiers;
Two points. These can be either real points in the database, or just freehand locations selected by the user.
Control lines for cross section sets can only be: -
Primary alignments.
The right hand tree structure shows what long and cross section windows are open and which long and cross sections are displayed in the windows. Long sections and cross section sets can be dragged and dropped from the left-hand tree into the appropriate window in the right hand tree. Alternatively they can be dropped directly into the window itself.
