Installation

The system should be installed onto your computer's hard disk using the install program supplied on the Setup CD.

The files contained on the distribution CD are compressed and require special decompressing before using. The Setup program performs this decompressing operation and ensures that files are copied to the correct folders.

To install the system:

  1. Ensure that WINDOWS is running, and that all applications are closed.
  2. For installation from a CD, Insert the LISCAD CD in the CD drive and the setup program starts automatically with active "autorun" function. (If the setup doesn't start automatically, open Windows Explorer, browse to your CD drive root folder and double click on Start.exe)
  3. The LISCAD Setup Installation screen will display. Select the Install Option.
  4. The "Welcome" screen will display. Select the Next button to display the License agreement. Read the license agreement and if you agree to the terms of the license agreement, select "I accept the terms of the License Agreement" and press Next.
  5. Choose your setup type:
    • Typical
Installs the most common program features on your local computer. (Note that this option does not install the Tutorials. If Tutorials are required select Custom or Complete.)
    • Custom
Allows you to choose which features are to be installed and where they are to be installed to. Recommended for advanced users and Network Administrators.
    • Complete
Use this option to install all program features on your local computer.
  6. If you are satisfied with your selections press Install. If you wish to edit anything press the Back button to return to the desired page.
  7. After installing, you are given the option to view the release notes, register on-line and Finish the setup process.

Network Installation Notes

If you are installing across a network, refer to LISCAD Knowledge Base article 41: http://www.listech.com/support/kb/41.aspx

To use LISCAD:

If you have ordered a license for this version of LISCAD and received a parallel port or USB port hardware key, simply insert the key in the appropriate port of any computer that has this LISCAD version installed. The hardware key will then allow you to run the modules purchased on the computer in which it is inserted.

If you own a previous version license of LISCAD, have ordered an upgrade to this version, and received an upgrade executable file, run the upgrade executable file on the computer that has the appropriate hardware key inserted. The hardware key will then allow you to run this version on the computer in which it is inserted.

If you have not ordered and received a hardware key or upgrade executable, and you have installed this version for the first time on the particular computer, the license will default to a fully functional evaluation license, which may be used for a certain period of days. To use the license beyond the evaluation period, you need to make the appropriate order and receive a hardware key or upgrade executable.
